Nothing “helps” here when it comes to someone insistent upon the “right” for a mother to kill her own child. The “internet point” here is hanging on someone’s word (MURDER!!) to deflect from the real issue at hand – abortion kills a human life. And that’s a point you said you don’t disagree with.

The point is not to punish anyone for killing unborn babies, the point is that the baby being killed is human and it’s life is due consideration under the law as much as anyone’s. Acknowledge that fact and I will believe that your position is something more than internet moral rhetoric.

I have been offering an out. Don’t call it murder and you don’t get hung up in the customary punishments for murder. It’s not murder, it’s homicide. Some homicides carry no penalty and others warrant the ultimate penalty. The penalty for homicide by abortion can be anywhere in between.

Then we treat it as a homicide.

What if a woman is a second offender?

Does that carry a harsher penalty?

Enough of the what ifs. It doesn’t get us anywhere. What if you let the baby live? Have you ever considered that?

Why are you so hung up on penalties? Shouldn’t we first define the crime?

If someone does, it is none of my business.

If we are going to make it a criminal act, then that carries with it real world consequences.

Ending Roe is essentially opening the door to banning abortions in half the states in this country…functionally.

And you would compromise on when it’s OK to end a human life?

That’s interesting.

I also know a fertilized ova is a human life, but also realize it’s a balancing act between what rights we ought to give a nascent human and the woman on whose life it depends utterly.

I suspect the “compromises” I have already made on this issue to try and balance that would not be ones you would make, but would be ones most Americans would…and that would be what we have but for the extremes having taken over the political apparatus of the nation.

We already have education and access to birth control.

Libs are raising a generation of morons. Sex ed does not belong in schools. Sex ed belongs to the parents. Teach the three R’s in school.

I suspect you live a sheltered and comfortable life. If you are every in NJ, I would be happy to take you to Trenton, and we can have a face to face conversation among kids and young adults growing up there about your notion of access to BC and education and the reality that they are living.

Why are you folks so desperate to detach the word murder from abortion? That’s what it is, like it or not. Like everything else in our justice system, there is a wide range of penalties for all crimes. You know why I call it murder? Because when a pregnant woman is murdered, it carries two counts of murder, not one. I think mental state should be included into any punishment like all other crimes. Any woman willing to murder her baby has a serious emotional issue. A lot of them are coaxed into abortion by the man or family members. It’s not the same as 1st degree murder in that it’s not an intentional act of malevolence, rather it’s usually an act of desperation. It’s a different situation so it’s worthy of a different penalty. I’m not saying that counseling and community service are the solution, I’m saying that maybe they’re included. Maybe it’s not deserving of jail time, maybe it is. The point is that I don’t KNOW what the proper penalty is and it needs to be debated at length before we decide as a culture. ALL of this is premature anyway as we don’t yet know if the SC will issue the final ruling we think they’re coming out with and even IF they reverse Roe .v Wade, it still goes back to each state to decide IF abortion will be illegal and WHAT the penalty should be in the event that it’s outlawed.

Roe is getting knocked down. There is no indication that the judges are moving on this.

Waffling on what the punishment should be for premeditated baby murder is quite funny though.

It is easy to sling around that word, but much much harder to stand by the consequences of what that means in the real world.
