Big Beautiful Bill gets more beautiful

We are not at the end of 2025 or into 2026 yet.

But I get what you are saying.

Good the point is the CBO makes projections of

  • GDP growth
  • PCE inflation
  • Interest rates

:point_up_2: When they make mistakes, that’s where they make them. (They have been accused, in the past, of using rosy numbers for Dems and bad numbers for R’s.) :point_up_2:

They then look at a proposed budget and score it, how much new revenue and how much new spending in ten different categories according to congressional committee

  • Title I. Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry,
  • Title II. Committee on Armed Services . . .
  • Title IV. Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation . . .

It is a dfficult way to divide a spending bill, but that is the way Congress needs it to be done.
.
.
.
.
The question (or rather the accusation) is that in the first part, in the projections part, they lean left and “always” claim that tax cuts will reduce revenue a LOT.

There might be some merit to that argument,
but to my knowledge the last time they got it wrong in a big way was in in the 1980s. People get old fast and don’t realize that is like blaming them -->in the 1970s<-- for something they did wrong in the 1920s or 1930s. SHEESH, holding blame that long reminds me of my ex-wife.

Humans, in general, suck at predictions.

Both of those spending acts were trillions thrown to the 4 winds.

Biden cronies probably came out with a ton of money however.

Yes, and the bad predictions they made almost a half century ago should haunt them for a while . . . but are they currently biased in favor of Dems?

Well . . . maybe. But Me? I wouldn’t go too far out on a limb making that accusation.

I agree. Even if that is the result, I doubt it is an intentional bias.

Of course they are government, so…

Why do we need to spend 9 billion dollars for ice breakers? I was told by libs 15 years or so that Arctic will be ice free by now.

Did you all lied to me again?

Sound familiar?

Care to elaborate?

I responded to the poster’s claim that my summary of his statement was inaccurate.

Yeah they were determined to convince us Manmade Climate Change was real rather than a SCAM.

You asked me how i’d like to define the CBO being “right” and I gave you an answer.

Yes! That was quite likely in January.

It actually sucks. Making the debt clock go the other way would be good. That’s the problem. Neither party thinks their own debt counts.

Yes they lied, but the prediction was for the summer ice minimum not an ice-free Arctic. The Arctic will continue to freeze over every winter now and in the foreseeable future even if the alarmists are right. Currently the US only has two ships that can operate in winter/spring sea ice whereas Russia has 41 including 7 that are nuclear powered. Even the Chinese have three with another under construction. Canada has 18. This Bill will bring out total of heavy, Arctic-class icebreakers to 7-9 with an additional 10 or so medium icebreakers.

The US also conducts icebreaking operations in Antarctica during their summer.

Yes it does. It reminds me of global warming. Even if the US cut its carbon footprint in half (and thus destroying the economy) atmospheric CO2 would continue to climb. Thanks for noting that.

It was. And your cryptic response did not rebut my claim.

No you didn’t. You asked another question, but used the wrong punctuation mark at the end.

Have you noticed that the two biggest polluters on planet Earth, China and India get a pass? Huge demands on the U.S. little of any on the other two. Whenever I see a global warming report on the nightly news, I immediately think, “well, why don’t you people turn off the A.C. in your studio and open your windows?” You know, to save the planet? I can’t stand being lectured by hypocrites.

Yes I have. That’s what makes my statement true.
