It’s not about Marx or gender studies (which is a scary thing from the 90s btw) or crt. It’s about the fact that college kids for the most part aren’t delving deeply into political philosophies regardless of what the world around them looks like. Some do. Most dont.

I would put it differently. What happened was that society was scammed by the higher education complex that getting a college degree made one better than those who don’t and then was able to get the BA/BS degree as a requirement for the so-called white-collar jobs. What we need to do is throw out our illogical and antiquated higer education system (starting from high school) and reform it.

No argument here. I think HS should be more tailored toward making a living than leaning Shakespeare for instance.

That’s absolutely ridiculous. Bring shop back, bring co Ed home ec, personal finances classes. You can still keep Shakespeare.

Let Shakespeare be an elective. Let actual life skills be core curriculum.

I don’t know. Hamlet and king Lear teaches some pretty scary life skills.

Understanding culture is a life skill.

I have problems with shapes and shape perception in general but i would kick puppies (not i would not) to have had a workshop class or a finance class so i wouldn’t open 736 credit cards in my late teens.

How much debt do you think you would have accrued in your life had you been taught how to maintain machinery, balance a ledger, grow your own food, etc.?

It wasn’t an accident that you were robbed of a proper, practical education.

It wasn’t. New York didn’t want to spend the money on it. The elimination of practical education was decades in the making.
