Currently NYC is having a reckoning with all of the scandals coming out of Rikers island.

So the pendulum is swinging away from pretrial detention for non violent crimes.

Nah. NYC is having a reckoning with the get out of jail free card.

Even the New York Post recognizes how bad it is.

All this begs the question where all the money spent by NYC government really goes. How many ■■■■■■■■ social justice and con job feel good initiatives, studies, bloated department payrolls good old boy contracts. Corrupt New York Democrat Political machines (Tammany Hall) are so notorious that they make the history books. If the jail is bad, build a new jail with better construction, conditions and monitoring. After all criminal justice is an actual local government function.

That is a very good question.

A lot of people want to know.

But Mayor Adam’s just fired the person who was going through the complaints against corrections officers because the NYPD is the new mob.

And it clearly doesn’t because when they finally get a formal arraignment they get ROR’d and released immediately.

The ten thousand cash or bond when you first get arrested is just whatever everyone gets if the judge doesn’t like their looks.
