Biden administration plans to fact-check private cell-phone messages?

Cell phone companies already “spy”. The article doesn’t even explain how a cell phone carrier would read personal messages and then send a text in the middle of it.

Also, how would this work with IMessage on IOS?

It is all handled with computer algorithms. Typically they look for key words and flag things accordingly.

That is why one reason why you see so many misspelled words and abbreviations on Twitter.

From the politico link

“Indeed, over the past few weeks, criticism of the administration’s door-to-door vaccination strategy has increasingly become a fixture on Fox News, in addition to being a top topic on conservative social media posts and over SMS messages to cell phone users“

Wait a minute… Foxnews is using SMS to send out scare campaigns?

Seems like ATT and Verizon can do the same thing Twitter and Facebook does. Find key words flowing over their SMS network and send a text when they see vaccine misinformation.

Why would you have a problem with that? For the record… SMS is not private and is not encrypted.

The context appears to include personal comments related what Fox News is covering:

How dare you violate the party line!

How??

If you text a link to Tucker Carlson’s video or a website critical of mandatory vaccination programs, expect it to get flagged?

Another possibility is that the text message will not arrive for many days so it is no longer relevant. Unofficial censorship by delay.

Now it makes some sense.

So Charlie Kirk is upset that he might not be able lie to people en masse over SMS and it becomes a major thing for Conservative media.

It all makes sense now.

Exactly what I caught in the article, except with Foxnews.

So it’s ok for conservatives to use SMS to spread disinformation… but not ok for ATT to use THEIR PLATFORM to combat disinformation.

Got it

Sounds like a Giant step toward communism/socialism.

Turning point is using SMS to spread their information. Is that bad too?

luckily it’s all nonsense, so no worries.

what is “communism/socialism” and how is this a giant step toward it?

Are you actually defending the government reading peoples private communication in order to fact check it? Seriously?

That’s not going to happen.

Besides the title of the OP, where is it stated that the gov’t is reading peoples private communications to fact check it?

That is not what is going to happen.

Charlie Kirk is lying to you.

My text messages, between say, my wife and I aren’t private conversations?

Yes. Will they censor the big-city governments and teachers’ unions for ignoring the CDC guidance and pushing mask mandates for schoolchildren?

Will they start adding fact checks to text messages from teachers’ unions to their members?

Whether its going to happen or not you seem to be defending it.
