Because Flipping Burgers was Never Intended to be A Career

“The kind of job that allowed me and many others to rise through the ranks is now being threatened by a rising minimum wage that’s pricing jobs out of the market. Without sacrificing food quality or taste, or abandoning the much-loved value menu, franchise owners must keep labor costs under control. One way to combat rising labor costs is by reducing the amount of employees needed.”<

And the kiosks are not the only means to reduce costs. McDonalds invested in an app that requires very little initial cost from franchises.

With an endless supply of new poor and unskilled illegal voters coming across the border, lib leaders will sacrifice the lowliest American workers just to get a campaign ad. Their voters are uneducated and poorly informed… so “increase in minimum wage” makes a lot of sense to them (for awhile… until they, with their higher wage, get laid off).

Former McDonald’s guy who lost his job recently.

Versus current McDonald’s people.

Self-serve kiosks will actually result in more employees, company says, as it rolls out additional job types

As min wage rises in my area, I’m not planning on increasing headcount anytime soon.

We shall see. However, the article I posted was directly from the CEO of McDonalds.

Why wouldnt kiosks result in more jobs?

Yeah…why wouldn’t a company desire to add additional expenses?

BTW the kiosks were coming no matter what the minimum wage was.

What is the purpose of the kiosk? What is the purpose of the human order taker?

To take orders in a more efficient manner than a human can. And to do it with fewer mistakes.

Because they have to in order to run and manage the kiosk service model.

Hmmm take your word or the people who are advertising and hiring.

Once people get used to them, the kiosks will produce more throughput for the stores…especially with the customization options the kiosks will offer.

What do you think that will cause to happen?

The automated kiosk doesn’t require time off or benefits. It doesn’t need to be trained. It doesn’t get sick.

Of course, there are some people who will expect American workers to compete at that level instead of just accepting that the nature of labor is going to continue to change and that society must change along with it.

Actually the kiosks WILL “get sick”.

Two things that people here who live the idea of these folks losing jobs often over look is. First they need people to now help people especially older people use these machines. Second now often they run food out to the tables or to a designated parking area for food pick up on apps. They also will hire people whose job it is to make up those orders by app.

We’ve had kiosks in restaurants here (Michigan) for the last five years. This doesn’t have much to do with the price of labor, but more the ability to substitute capital for it.

I mean, will they break down on occasion and need to be fixed or replaced? Sure. But you don’t need a new full time person on hand to deal with that rare occurrence.

It actually has quite a lot to do with customer experience.

Younger customers, especially, prefer automated kiosks to people.
