I caught most of the replay this morning.
Thought Desantis did well. He was well prepared and engaging. Desantis needs to work on his smile. It looked awkward at times and engaging at times.
Way too much talking over. No need for the undercard to do this. This is also a skill set Newsome has worked to master.
Newsome performed as expected. It was instructive to see the mechanics in operation.
Newsome could not address the graphics due to his dyslexia. The economy and middle class questions highlighted this. Crime response blew it away. Like murder is the only crime.
Newsome is not an actor. Big mistake. Newsome is a rhetorical magician.
Newsome will distract his audience by saying he will answer that question. Convincingly. Then he will tell blatent manipulated unrelated material to sell his philosophy.
Very slick. Don’t watch his hands or eyes, just listen.
Newsome will ignore the camera and audience to face his opponent. A very alpha move. Desantis focus was on audience…camera.
Newsome said Biden is fine. One hundred percent.

Desantis strength was threading the Trump needle. He stuck to the policy and never brought Trump up. Desantis did not try to use Trump angst to his benefit.

Overall I score it a wash. If anything Desantis held up better than expected. Prediction of Newsome win floundered.
The abrupt exit at the end by both was odd.
