Ask 100 other people, and you’ll get 100 other answers.
Be one of the 100 and specify what you want to ban.
Yeah, so you can move along now. I have logged your definition of ‘assault weapon’, and found it to be unresponsive and unhelpful.
A shotgun loaded with bird shot is a anpepper weapon.

The WA legislature just passed their version of an “assault weapons” ban and will be signed by the Gov (probably today).
If anyone is interested, the following link to the bill defines which makes/models are included:
Mostly it’s an attempt to ban all AK’s and AR’s and other semi-automatic centerfire weapons that “look” like them with detachable magazines.
Interestingly the M1A and M1 Thompson are on the list but not the M1 Carbine. (shhhh, don’t tell anyone).
Garands are not listed either since, I assume, it doesn’t have a detachable mag. (Good - I’ve been shopping lately to fill a bucket list for an Expert Grade).

It was your ilk who invented the term “assault weapon,” you should be the one telling us what the definition is. That is why the question was put to Dettelbach … It’s his term, he should know what it means.

The point here is, what is your definition. If you want to ban something, you better be able to accurately define what it is.

I just looked yesterday … CMP has expert grade M1s in inventory. $1150 to $1450 depending on the manufacturer.
I wonder if lacing bullets with ghost pepper oil would do anything?
Concealed carry whale harpoons? I’m reminded of an old law against concealed weapons more than 6’ long.
I was thinking along the lines of a salt water weapon
