Well, when they modify their definitions to accommodate the way Massachusetts uses the word for drivers license purposes, it’s easy to consider they may be letting very recent ideological arguments influence changes to long standing common definitions.
And without specifying that is what they are doing, or that a certain definition is being used for political arguments and may not be commonly accepted.

My layman’s understand of how the dictionary decides when to add words or definitions is based on how common their usage. The use of “gender” to refer to something related but unique to sex has been around for decades and is used by many people, especially in scientific/medical circles.

One’s gender is not a determinant of one’s actual sex. It is a social construct of how the particular culture expects the average male or female of that age to behave. It is madness to use one’s gender identity (feminine or maculine) as determinant of whether one is male or female in terms of sex.

I speak of the now. Sexual assault is still against the law. You should always do a background check before hiring a baby sitter. If you hire a stranger and don’t check with previous parents they have babysat for then you are asking for trouble regardless of their sex, gender, or genitalia. Assuming a person isn’t dangerous simply because they are biologically female is foolish. Women can hurt children too.
