I do not hate the Chinese and Indians and Pakistanis who got the Nuclear Physicist jobs.
I do not blame them for “taking away jobs” etc. etc etc.
Those jobs were not going to Cooters and JimBobs and MaryBeth-PeggySue’s of my high school anyway. But I am no longer (even) remotely fooled by some of the claims some people make.
The table I posted (now twice) could easily accompany a headline like
“1.3 million jobs created,” or “Jobs economy soars as net 100,000 jobs created.” For me it was a purely intellectual experience that told me sometimes the truth also is “Locals lost 1.2 million jobs,” and one should not be fooled by the headlines.
No of course not…but there’s a group of people the government is supposed to be helping. Your words. The others…I’m unclear about how you feel about them. Because I’ll be honest, I find it disturbing that American citizens born in other countries don’t fall in your category that you seem to care about. Like they’re not real Americans. Concerning.

Perhaps your real argument is that I use the BLS figures the way the BLS wrote them and BLS is hateful and exclusionary and does not care at all about the group you have accused me of not caring about.
In case it matters, the US issues 65,000 H1-B visas per year and 18,000 CR! (marriage) visas per year. Even if we assume 100% of those persons become citizens (they do not) you are thinking of me as “uncaring” or whatever because I chose I refuse to let my thought be dominated by . . . (grabs calculator) . . . by 3.7%.
Hereafter please know that when I say “US-born persons lost 1.2 million jobs and foreign-born person gained 1.3 million jobs” I do so because that the way BLS calculates and provides the numbers. Shame on that bad old xenophobic ethnocentric BLS for lumping the 3.7% in with the illegals not with the legal. Bad bad BLS. Shame on them.
From my perspective, I see (thinking of my distant past) mind-numbed college students who did not really belong in college. The only thing they really got out of thecollege years was to view the entire world as filled with racists, xenophobes, evil corporations etc. and to try to apply that worldview anytime they felt they were losing an argument.

Dem donors love the cheap labor. Working on a cal campus and I see the outside contractors using a lot of very fresh looking labor. During Trump was the only time my local corner store used locals instead of imports as cashiers. The owner is a big time dem and as soon as Biden admin installed itself he went back to hiring imported people and working them 12 hours a day.
For some people the job growth rate is negative. strongly negative. so strongly that economist traditionally say “that group is in a recession.”
