According to a local story, the “idea” had placed an itemized list of equipment with instructions to keep it in his backpack. The document was titled “direct action checklist”. He was wearing all black with a covering over his face. Smiths family said he had been in Portland and returned a few months ago.
The article then says he refuses to talk so they don’t know what his political leanings are.

Sounds like the non-existent entity has a training camp somewhere in Oregon. Standard extremist MO is to recruit, train, then return converts to their home turf to spread the struggle. There will be trails leading back to someone in Oregon.
