We were done when you failed to provide any evidence to back up your feelings. At best you had a loose correlative between children who went to a clinic regarding potential gender dysphoria and children with autism that failed to point at anything of substance. I can’t argue with someone who disregards the majority opinion of mental health professionals in favor of blaming it on some leftist conspiracy theory to convince transgender people they are being discriminated against as if those transgender people didn’t realize it on their own.

I do vaguely remember the French asking for gender-neutral terms, but that would take another linguistic revolution similar to the Great Vowel Shift.
I’ve noticed it especially with the romance languages…exceptions might include German (I do not know if it has Latin roots, but as Torey said, there are gender-specific articles) and English, which does not use gender-specific articles.
I think where Torey is getting things wrong is that “they” is indeed, referring objects, but it is referring to to plural objects. Les filles. Les garcons.
And a word can have both male and female articles, especially when referring to a person or a profession/occupation.

the argument is not “what is shaped by gender”. it is “what determines gender”. and here’s a hint for ya. it’s not state of mind, or social psychology.
Much like the term “emo” (in the 90s it was style of music, but now its a different style of music and also refers to a kind of “sad goth” appearance), “boomer” has morphed to mean not just baby boomers but to mean someone who is out of touch with modern thinking. For example, I was born in 1977, so I’m on the cusp of Gen X… my mom was actually a baby boomer being born in 1945… but my child could easily say “OK, boomer” when I lament that they would rather watch someone play Minecraft on YouTube instead of episodes of Fraggle Rock (a show I loved as a kid and have failed to get either of my children into).
It’s a feedback loop. We know that male and females think differently, this has been establish by many studies, and this informs your gender identity. Then there’s gender as a social construct… this is how society expects someone to act based on their gender and which in general we, as a society, base on sex. This is gender expression. Because of how the brain develops and is influence by its environment, these expectations influence our gender identity.
That’s not trying to make a civil rights group… its a group that preexisted like any other minority that is treated different than the majority. Recognizing is not the same as making.

It seems to me most of the 89 “classifications” are based on how the person likes to have sex. I don’t need to know that, & don’t want to care. It’s not a sex/gender, it’s their version of what kind of sex they like. It’s ridicules.
Just like nobody needs to know I’m heterosexual upon meeting me. Waste of time & energy, I just think it’s more political correctness & control freaking from the left.
Did you actually mean 89 sexes? You didn’t include a source and I kind of assumed you meant genders as I’ve heard of the latter but not the former. Now it sounds like your are referring to sexual orientation. Do you have this list of 89?

This is some nutty social experiments run by a handful of weirdos. Real transgenders would be just as offended by this idiocy, as others.

I tried googling for “89 sexes”, “89 genders”, and “89 sexual orientations” and none resulted in a list of 89 _______… so I can only assume that number was pulled out to the OPs bum and most likely he was thinking of 89 genders. The issue is that these things operate on spectrums. Sex, as far as I’m aware, there are the 3 main categories: male, female, and intersex. Since there are several ways intersex can manifest there might be more categories based on the combination of internal and external genitalia and organs and chromosomes. Gender is similar in that it has the 3 main categories: male, female, and non-binary, but non-binary is a spectrum and frankly the number of genders could be infinite as there are a lot of factors and shades of gray. Sexual orientation has 4 main categories: heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, and asexual. Despite the OPs claims, most people don’ t mention their orientation as a non-sequitur. Bisexual is on a spectrum and its not unlikely that those who identify as gay or straight are actually bi with a strong leaning towards gay or straight. Asexual is a little complicated because there are subcategories that factor in the connection the person makes with another person. For example some asexual people don’t want relationships or anything. Some do feel sexual attraction, but only if they have a deep romantic attraction to the person. Some asexual people want a romantic partner but never have an desire for sex.
That’s kind of hard to say if that’s what I want because its a very broad topic. For example, I’m not for a genderless society (nor do I think such a thing is even possible).
What I want is a society where there are no expectations or stereotypes based on gender. That a person can express themselves anywhere between male and female and not be judged for it. I think in some ways we are slowly moving towards this… though more so for women. Just a couple of hundred of years ago it was considered improper for a woman to wear pants, play sports, or join the military. I think there’s a growing acceptance among the youth for men who aren’t alpha males. I always thought it was odd how men who perform in music can get away with gender bending that otherwise they couldn’t… and there are plenty of women who find that stuff hot… like Brian Molko from the band Placebo or David Bowie.
Basically its about freedom. Freedom to express yourself and not be bound by society’s gender norms.

“Freedom,” does not mean freedom to express yourself in a way that harms others; other’s children, or cost others money or tranquility.
It has been proven in psycho somatic medicine, that some people actually make themselves deathly sick or exhibit bizarre behavior all for an unconscious, aberrant, craving for “freedom”. It is the prisonhouse of their own desires. it is a click-clack process that entraps them. It’s a disease. It can also be seen in other creatures beside human beings. It is a way that nature can remove them from the gene pool.
Of course you don’t have the freedom to harm others, and we shouldn’t be okay with self-harm, but I’d be shocked if there was any definitive evidence that a bunch of androgynous people or men wearing skirts and makeup has or will cause harm to others. If people are making themselves “deathly sick” I doubt it has to do with gender.
