Maybe it is more accurate to see the spectrum as circular with authoritarian and libertarian at opposite poles, rather than linear. As one goes further left from libertarian, one approaches authoritarian via communist; but going further right from libertarian, one approaches authoritarian via fascist. Communism and fascism are actually pretty close. One is socialism with the goal of world domination ostensibly for the sake of the workers; the other is nationalism with the goal of world domination ostensibly for the sake of imperial glory. Both easily transmute into the other.

No. Communism is a failed economic theory. You can have communism without authoritarianism in theory.

Exactly. I understand those believing in purest form of communism is none authoritativeness, but they never describe how you can get there without extreme force to achieve end goal.
And even then you still have to keep eradicating individuals from independent thoughts…which is only human nature.

It only works on a small voluntary basis where those that don’t agree can go elsewhere.
On a national level it can only work by removing those that don’t agree to the ideals.
