Are more pandemics likely in coming years?

As if the current global pandemic wasn’t enough for us to worry about, there is growing concern that this might only be the beginning of what Anthony Fauci , MD, is calling a “pandemic era.” Yes, dealing with deadly outbreaks like COVID-19 might be something we have to grow accustomed to in the near future. This ominous forecast comes from a paper that Fauci and another medical expert published in the scientific journal Cell , with the scientists attributing their grim outlook on pandemics to one factor in particular: Climate change.

I agree that more pandemics are likely but global warming has little to do with it. Instead they are much more likely to come from labs. There is a long history of naturally viruses escaping from labs going back several decades:

A brief, terrifying history of viruses escaping from labs: 70s Chinese pandemic was a lab mistake | National Post

In the last decade or so, scientists have perfected way of creating new viruses in labs using dangerous gain-of-function techniques, and there is good circumstantial evidence that the COVID virus originated in a lab.

My observation is that COVID-19 has all of the characteristics of a bioweapon even if there is the possibility that it has a natural origin. It has cost the US trillions of dollars and has killed more than 500,000 Americans while leaving the country of origin virtually unaffected.

Viruses with similar properties are likely to become preferred weapons in the future. High performance and low risk to the creator combined with the increasing availability of the technology favor their development. This means that it is likely that labs around the world will be churning out viruses for covert attacks on adversaries.

Will man-made pandemics become regular events?

Given the widespread nature of the technology, how do we prevent COVID-like viruses from being used as bioweapons in the future?

There is another pandemic brewing. The Chinese Wuhan Virus has been great for crackpot power mongers. Cuomo got an Emmy, lots of others have been having a blast.

Yes, will another virus magically appear just in time to change election results?

Will new viruses be used to ensure that lockdowns-forever make constitutional rights irrelevant?

The possibilities are endless.

“He then cited deforestation, urban crowding, and wet markets for wild game as causes for these looming pandemics.”

Sounds like a rapid increase in immigration could only make this worth. Not only is urban overcrowding unpleasant to live with, it may kill us in a vast plague.

The job of a government would be called a conspiracy if anyone else did it.

Forcing people to pay for police, fire protection, etc. = protection racquet if a private group does it.

Wild animals, such as bats, have been exterminated over vast areas of the world. That reduces the risk of human exposure to diseases.

No more bats = no more bat coronaviruses at least from nature

Except the actual reality is that governments that have been competent in handling the COVID-19 pandemic have been returned.

Police and fire protection should be provided for free?

I don’t know about climate change…but humans building up a global system of transportation and then continuing to encroach on wild habitats = more pandemics or…

Evil government actions meant to enslave us all = more pandemics.

Please, this thing came straight out of the lab. How dumb do you have to be to think it’s a coincidence the outbreak just happened to be next door to the only gain of function lab for Covid in all of China?

What happened to the lefts trust of our intelligence agencies by the way?

from In 2018, Diplomats Warned of Risky Coronavirus Experiments in a Wuhan Lab. No One Listened. - POLITICO

The next day, Trump said he was “investigating,” and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called on Beijing to “come clean” about the origin of the outbreak. Two weeks later, Pompeo said there was “enormous evidence” pointing to the lab, but he didn’t provide any of said evidence.

The January 15 statement was cleared by the intelligence community, but the underlying data was still held secret. Likely changing no minds, it was meant as a signal—showing that circumstantial evidence did exist, and that the theory deserved further investigation.

Any theory of the pandemic’s origins had to account for the fact that the outbreak of the novel coronavirus—or, by its official name, SARS-CoV-2—first appeared in Wuhan, on the doorstep of the lab that possessed one of the world’s largest collections of bat coronaviruses and that possessed the closest known relative of SARS-CoV-2, a virus known as RaTG13 that Shi identified in her lab.

Yes, my opinion is that the evidence for a lab origin is overwhelming. There is also very good evidence that the virus is a lab-produced bioweapon.

The question of whether the virus was intentionally released or released by accident is actually a fine point that may never be determined. The easiest way to release the virus intentionally would be to allow sloppy lab conditions and to allow workers to sell infected animals for human consumption. That approach also means that there is plausible deniability.

What is undeniable is that the government of China did nothing to prevent the spread of the disease until after it had already spread outside of China. If they did that with knowledge that the disease is really a lab-produced bioweapon, then they should still be guilty of a bio attack.

I find it ironic that many people dismiss the possibility that COVID is a lab-produced bioweapon based on applying Judeo-Christian ideas of morality to the leaders of China. Many of the same people lecture that Western values of morality are a form of cultural imperialism. All cultures are equal with different “cultural norms”. Sadly President Biden seems to be one of those people:

Chinese Communists commit genocide; Americans complain about it. Different norms.

I think a series of man-made pandemics are inevitable until the world condemns China for gross negligence or worse for the release of COVID.

Lots of diseases will now be declared pandemics.

Look at how they redefined “outbreak”. If a business had more than two cases reported it became an “outbreak” site.

All it takes now is the media declaring it a pandemic for the left, and it becomes so.
