I have a trunk full of college text books. None of them have mission statements or a procedures manual.

1- I don’t know that textbooks from the forties and fifties are accurate comparisons to today’s textbooks

2- I have had textbooks that have both of those things.

You are right. I went to college in the sixties. And while CRT first started showing up in the early 70s, the Marxists didn’t really take over the universities until the 80s.

CRT: CRT examines racism as a social construct manifested in law and culture.

Conservative CRT: CRT is a Marxist plot to overthrow capitalism, private property, individual freedom and federalism while subjugating and demonizing whites and shaming the United States as a racist country.

The American Legion did the same thing with Harold Rugg and the progressive education movement. The John Birch Society did it with sex education and the Equal Rights Amendment. This is continuing along those lines by current day conservatives.

It isn’t. CRT has been around for decades. It’s been discussed in many schools in some form for years. It became an issue when conservatives decided it was. It wasn’t a means to “vilify whites” or “drive a racial wedge through society” until conservatives decided that’s what they wanted to think. That’s the conservative definition of CRT. Hence the “conservative CRT” definition I gave earlier.

No different than conservative versions of the progressive education movement, sex ed, civil rights, gender identity, etc. All “interpretations” to scare the base that have no basis in what was the original intention.

People will disagree. They’ve been told to disagree. They’ve bought it. The conservative versions are all they know and all they care about. There is no desire to critically assess the origins and intentions behind any of these concepts.
