Why does Alcatraz have to be renovated? Leave it in disrepair. Make it a hellhole to live in. Whether or not the accommodations are acceptable, you’re stuck there if you get sent there.

Most everyone has heard of Alcatraz and knows it’s reputation. That’s what Trump is interested in, putting fear into criminals and the name Alcatraz is more effective then supermax for that. More hyperbole from Trump. He wants dirt bags removed from society and so does the vast majority of Americans. Trump could promise to send them to Disney world and Libs would still call it cruel and unusual and fight to keep them free to hurt and kill Americans. That’s what the communist left cares about, keeping violent criminals free to terrorize and kill serves the Lib agenda ( as does impoverishment) because it keeps Americans so busy worrying about day to day survival that they don’t have the time or resources to pay attention to or protest what their scum bag leaders are doing. It also forces citizens- especially the useful idiots, to be more dependent on their big brother to feed and protect them.
Libs never have, and never will do anything good for Americans. Too bad we can’t deport them instead…

Do you really think anyone in the United States or outside of the United States is fearful that Alcatraz is going to reopen.

No, I actually don’t think it will be reopened, unless it could be done cheaper than building a new prison of similar or greater security. That’s a question I can’t answer. If it could be done, I’d support it.
Maybe the Rock could become a 51 st state?

Prisoners could elect a Governor and a Mayor in every block and start collecting taxes.
As for the cost of remodeling…? 
Trump wouldn’t make it into a ritzy hotel, because all improvement would be only cosmetic. Much cheaper than building a new place.
He could fill it with prisoners one block at the time as it was ready and put those housed there to work to remodel the rest of the place. They could be paid for that work with priviledges like movies, better food, a basketball court etc.
I bet he could open it in a year.
