How does the way you personally feel about them change anything? All politicians have supporters who are so rabid in their support the candidate/politician can do no wrong.

Sort of a misnomer. My refund was $135 less this year than last, but that is because my employeer withheld slightly less based on anticipated tax rates. On the surface it looks like i paid slightly less taxes this year than last, by less than a a few hundred dollars. So yeah people could boast trump saved money by that metric.
At the same time multiply my situation out by 10s or hundreds of thousands of people and figure out how much that so called tax added to the national debt and how much it actually caused me in future obligations and it quickly becomes apparent it is a negative sum game
