I would say it has more to do with white American kids not being into basketball as much as their European or black American counterparts.

Why doesn’t the NBA go into Vermont, Utah, Idaho, New Hampshire, etc, and set up camps to pay for White-only travel teams to create more interest in basketball among White youth? Is this an example of systemic racism against Whites?
MLB has programs like this in inner cities for Black kids to drum up support, even though I’m absolutely certain most of them have no interest in baseball.

No, all you need for rugby is a ball. Same as with soccer.

Football needs a lot of equipment.

Uses, not needs. When I was a kid, we played a lot of football with just a ball. I expect kids still do today.

I agree, but for some reason, MLB tries to artificially boost the number of American Black players when it’s obvious they don’t really care about baseball. It’s too “boring”. There are plenty of Blacks from Latin American countries to make up for it.

There’s too few white Americans in the NBA today. Especially considering that some of the greatest NBA players in the history of the league were white men. Like Larry Byrd.

But I do think that parents play a big role. White parents, at least here in the south, push their kids towards football or baseball heavily. Black parents do the same towards football or basketball.

I’m not sure what the answer is.

You’re right on the money about what sports garner the most interest with the different groups. I think the European White NBA players are comparable to the Latino Black players in MLB.

Especially if it is unusually large. The last helmet I had was big enough (size 8.25 hat at the time) that one of my fellow linemen could put it on while wearing his glasses and spin it around, not messing up the glasses.

There is a chance they got to use it again before the helmet itself became too old, but who knows.

a lot of people can’t simply afford to send their kid to play some sport on a competitive level its not cheap unless your child is a prodigy.

Baseball/Hockey are both travelling system your driving hours every weekend.
Basketball is becoming more and more expensive with the increase of elite private schools.

When they say “diversity”, they don’t mean diversity of thought. Vocabulary, not dictionary.

It is a demand for power disproportionate to share of population. In “our” democracy, some identity groups should have more hegemony.

Based on the least indicative character traits of all.

And the libs crying about the SCOTUS decision is another example of the negative effects of diversity.
