I bet we could too.
I’m sure there are sectors of government work that can function just fine with remote work. But there are plenty that just don’t, even though seem like they would.
They will likely thin the herd by attrition.
A lot will retire or quit when forced to actually go in to work.
Don’t replace them. That’s the way it is done usually in the private as well.
Want less employees don’t replace those who retire or quit.
You can keep a necessary job, eliminate some of the useless ones and shift job assignments as needed to maintain the few useful ones.
I disagree too.
Agreed. The House should be expannded to what it should be and they all should work remotely-FROM THEIR DISTRICTS.
They can go to DC once a year for a week.

What is funny is… a large portion of government civilians and contractors are former military. A large portion of them are likely republicans who voted for Trump.
Clearly, not all government workers are lazy and useless.

A blanket RTO mandate is stupid and would like result in good people leaving and the bad ones staying because they are not desirable in the private sector.
So you’re saying they aren’t committed to their job?

I’ve worked remotely for almost 5 years. It’s a godsend to my productivity.
And yet here you are, 10 o’clock on west coast on a work day and you’re posting at Hannity land.
So much for productivity…

Why are so many government and agency offices in DC?
I agree. I have no problem spreading them out to lower cost areas or areas where they can get the kind of talent they need to be successful.

Cratic3947:
I bet we could get rid of 50% or more of govt workers. And few would notice.
You’d probably be very wrong.
The million plus laid off workers would definitely know.

Yes, But I don’t think the point of govt is to employ workers. And they would become tax payers instead of tax suckers.

Excellent points!
My employer has seen improvements across productivity, accuracy, retention, less unscheduled absences since moving to work from home.
We now have a hybrid policy and your job determines number of days in office from zero to five. I go in one day a week.
Such an outdated view that everyone has to trog into the office every day.

The govt needs workers to perform its duties.
Hard to pay taxes when you don’t have a job.
