President Trump called-out social media platforms for “silencing millions of people” Friday morning; blasting major tech companies for taking down posts and stories published by prominent conservatives.

“Social Media Giants are silencing millions of people. Can’t do this even if it means we must continue to hear Fake News like CNN, whose ratings have suffered gravely. People have to figure out what is real, and what is not, without censorship!” tweeted Trump.

The Commander-in-Chief’s tough talk comes after Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other platforms moved to clampdown on speech some users may find “offensive” or “inappropriate.”

It’s time to break up the monopoly of the BIG TECH social media companies. As the President said in his tweet we must hear fake news whether we like it or not and the same goes for the left leaning Facebook, Instagram & Twitter who must not infringe on free speech with censorship.

These are private businesses. They are not blocking your free speech by removing racists from the platform

what monopoly? there is nothing stopping anyone from starting a new social media platform.

Agreed! We need to break the monopoly of Facebook, Twitter, and Google into three separate companies!

What the hell are you even talking about? “Breaking apart” a private company with a unique product makes no sense…

It’s scary how little common sense these cultists have…

Why don’t you google “ma bell” it’s been done before and it can be done again!

Meanwhile Trump is blocking people on Twitter.

That would mean removing liberals and Democrats!

This isn’t a utility genius, I don’t even use those platforms.

They could be re designated as utility companies and then watch out.

What? This makes no sense

You make zero sense, phone lines represent physical infrastructure that could be managed by smaller local companies on a regional basis, and was a utility that was universally used. There was nothing unique about the infrastructure or services.

Social media has zero relation, it is not physical or universal, and there is no avenue for smaller entities to take their proprietary software. And anyone at any time can develop competition, there are all sorts of new platforms and Facebook itself supplanted Myspace as an example.

Honestly… the lack of thought is scary.

You can start your own social media platform tomorrow there is no monopoly

There are alternatives for all the services these folks have been kicked off of, they just have less users.
