The man was entering his own house.

All other assumptions made in the scenario are silly.

I think it safe to say that everyone in this thread wants the cop to be innocent. But not everyone will admit that suspicion is strongly justified by some fishy circumstances.

It’s only a “slippery slope” if the killing is not justifiable/lawful or the laws and enforcement of same allow for legalized murder by police.

That is why every killing by a PO needs to be thoroughly investigated and those that are unlawful need to be aggressively pursued and prosecuted.

It’s also why all killings by PO’s should be investigated by a higher outside authority so we can have confidence in the investigation.

They screwed this one up by not immediately referring the investigation to the BCI.

Does “shot in the back entering his own home” signal ‘self-defense’ to you?

There are two possible reasons if that seems too many.\

  1. Cops are out of control and stopping people for no reason.
  2. A society that does not restrain itself must rely on force to maintain peace and order.

Logically one of two things happened
Either the deputy had attempted to stop him
or
the deuty simply decided “ooh look a black person moving toward a house. I think I’ll shoot him.”

And what happened in the five minutes prior to his attempting to enter the home?

Tell that to 200 families.

I sincerely doubt the second is what occurred here. Call me crazy but… .

The death of an individual is always a tragedy to their loved ones.

It isn’t a statistic though.

So, to be fair, I don’t really care about guilt or innocence. Those speak to individual cases, only, and only also after the damage is done.

I want cops restrained long, long before this ■■■■ can get to court.

You’re right, the police should just allow the rampaging criminals to go on with their lives no matter how many people are maimed or killed by them. How dare they shoot violent felons!

Great answer.

  1. Cops have piss poor training.

  2. Cop suck at de-escalation

  3. Cops have irrational fear of POC

I’m sure there ore others

We don’t know.

There is no camera footage.

You certainly don’t know that to be true.

No, it is much more.

How do you “deescalate” with an armed fleeing felon that won’t stop?

There was no rampaging criminal in this situation.

He wasn’t a felon

A guy waving a gun around out the window as he’s driving is committing an aggravated assault with each person he muzzles and terrorizing everyone who observes it.
