Police officer Garrett Hull, was shot in the head early this morning and is fighting for his life. He is surrounded by his wife, two daughters and other family and friends.
Hull and other officers were trying to apprehend three men who had just robbed a bar. One of them shot Officer Hull. Two of them have been identified as Dacion Steptoe and Michael Mayfield. The other has not been named.
Officer Hull passed away.

I read the article but didn’t see anything about the suspects being members of a minority group. Am I missing something?

what i read was the police had these guys under surveillance (they’re suspected of at least 15 armed robberies) when they pulled another one (and the police acted).
i hope they catch the other two FAST.

Steptoe, who shot the officer, was killed immediately by another officer. The other two were taken into custody. I believe that is correct. I know it is about the shooter.
There is also a fund seeking donations for Officer Hull’s wife and two daughters. I’m trying to get the details so I can donate to it. I live close to Fort Worth.
I’m not trying to criticize this because that is a noble thing to do. But would you donate to Botham Jean’s family as well?
I ask because I think both families deserve to be taken care in the loss of their loved ones.

Probably not. Was his family depending on him for their livelihood? They will be taken care of to the tune of about 8 figures. They have 4 or 5 personal injury lawyers working for them. I doubt if they are there for grief counseling.

Jean’s family is not dependent on his income and will be getting a 7 or 8 figure pay off from the city for his death.
The officer’s wife and kids are dependent on his income and won’t be getting any such settlement from the trash that killed him.
