I think you may be committing a causation error. In Texas for example, you will have a red county with a blue center and the cases will come from the blue center because of population density.

I have no doubt there is some cultural push back in more rural-minded areas. I do have doubt it is because of “red/blue”.

Are wealthy, educated republicans refusing to vaccinate? I don’t see that. Are older republicans refusing to vaccinate? Those with conditions? Don’t see that either.

I would say that confidence in the central government medical bureaucracy is at an all time low, probably across the board. Because of their own actions.

I don’t believe you can honestly tell me your own confidence is as high in it as it was a few years ago. Mine certainly isn"t. I know, I know, they are doing “the best they can in an uncertain situation.”

To me, you have to dig down into the demographics to figure out how to get more people vaccinated. Who isn’t getting vaccinated? Why aren’t they?

There are basically two groups, the wait and see types and the “I will never get it” types.

The wait and see folks are more typically urban, black/latino and poor. Between Black’s lingering doubts after historic mistreatment from the medical community, false information on social media and perhaps inability to have the time to miss work post vaccination (sometimes it knocks you down for a day or two) coupled with the lack of knowledge if they even need it if they are young or had a prior infection, these are things that can be addressed by either education or mandates.

Mandates, I believe, that are best suited to businesses, as I have stated in a prior thread I authored.

Now, the “I will never get this” crowd tends to be, as a demographic, more heavily leaning towards being White and Conservative. Not my judgement here, just the facts. And there is a lot of crossover with the anti-mask crowd. So they aren’t getting vaccinated and they aren’t mitigating.

If there is a lack of confidence in central medical efforts, it has largely been because of unrealistic expectations of some of the public as to how medical opinions and efforts are structured.

It is based on prior experience alongside the evidence at hand at the moment.

And that can and should change when the times and circumstances change. But folks see changing guidelines as an admission that prior guidelines were always false, so why should they be believed now? In my opinion, it would be malpractice to not constantly examine your approach and be unwilling to alter therapies and mitigation efforts in order to provide the greatest benefit for the population at large.

A lot of illegals are being transported to red states and counties by JBiden as well. Even when told no by the states.

Plus didn’t i see a while back the bulk of the unvaccinated were minorities? They usually vote democratic. Just saying.

This map is from the CDC. I don’t see where blue cites would be making all of MO, LA, AL, GA, FL, TN and most of TX and…what’s that state about LA? Iowa?..and, OK…high transmissions.

And I think you are discounting misinformation. A local conservative talker has been an avid anti-vaxer, and he spews the same disreputable websites and articles that get posted here all the time. Completely misleading and flat out wrong stuff.

The people calling in who support his conclusions for the most part are white collar middle class folks from what I can tell and they just eat up the lies. It’s really uncanny.

And he plays right into the ‘distrust the government stuff’.

I’m not so sure that without that amplification - and of course tucker et al are more powerful than this local guy, and they seem to be doing the same stuff - things would be this difficult…
