Annexation by force (Greenland)

Forget Denmark. It’s the will of the Greenlanders that counts. Holding on to a colony that wants independence is 19th century.
But if Greenlanders decide to go with the US, Republicans better check their attitudes first. If they tend Democrat, there will be an immediate push to make them a state.

Fair point and I have no problem with that but why then (not you) pretend this is about drugs. We all know Venezuela is not a major player in the drugs trade or the illegal fentanyl flooding the US.

Regime change and/or puppet governments rarely work out well for the US.

I would love to be wrong and that we ultimatelt end up with a Venezuela that has free and fair elections and a government that works with the US and also for the benefit of its people but I am cynical and doubt that will happen.

As long as the US gets its cut of the oil Trump could not give a crap who controls Venezuela

No…

As it stands, I’m on track to being able to buy a brand new 50ft sailboat when I retire. If we invade another country for the next 15 years, I could be choosing the layout on a Silent 60 instead (the fly bridge MUST become the master cabin).

If you’re headed for a Blighty visit when I embark on my Mediterranean adventure, you can hitch a ride in the VIP cabin.

I just wonder where we would get the money to buy it.

I wouldn’t support armed invasion. Not in the least.

It would have to be something agreeable to the residents, and by extension, to Denmark.

Would they accept pallets of treasury-printed IOUs? That’s what the trillions would be worth. Just pile it on the national debt we already have…

Oh right my bad…it’s now Pituffik Space Base.

I agree - only way US should take Greenland is if the following happens:

  1. Greenlanders vote for independence from Denmark

  2. Greenlanders vote to engage in negotiations with the US.

  3. The cultural, land and resource rights of the native Inuit recognized and protected.

  4. All Greenlanders to receive financial compensation either lump sum or ongoing in a similar way Alaska does.

  5. IMHO they would be admitted as the 51st state.

There is no scenario where the US should even consider taking Greenland end of.

They will have elections, in 6 months to a year. Certainly is no way to have them now.

nobody is talking about taking it

why dont we just pretend we’re muslims. might take a couple more years but we’d get elected to run the place. :man_shrugging:

no shots fired. no military

No one says it’s “ours” but as the super power of the world America will protect the neighborhood and get rid of the whole lot of ■■■■ going on in our hemisphere. It’s called the Monroe Doctrine, newly renamed the Donroe Doctrine. I’m all for it.

Of course you are. There is nothing, absolutely nothing that will make you lose the faith.
