I am referring to registering guns with the state. If one moves, needs to re-register, like a car.

Between proper training, storage and safety being required, with certification…suicides and accidents would be dramatically reduced.

Mass shooting would most likely be reduced as well.

As far as everyday gun violence. It would be less…but with the amount of illegal guns, that will never be registered…it will not have as big of an impact.

Still seems like a good ROI.

Heck, we were shooting 22’s in the grade school gym in 6th grade. I still have my signed off on paper target.

Much to my surprise, my 25 year old son went out on his own, went through all of the classes and now has a concealed carry permit.

Never in my life would I have expected him to do that.

But, I was proud of him for going to classes, learning and taking the time to study properly so he can handle a gun with the respect it deserves to be handled with.

I think if you are going to own a gun, training and continuing education is something a responsible gun owner would do.

And to add to this. How many gun owners don’t store their firearm in a safe and proper manner. I. E. fully loaded under the pillow, under the mattress, in the bedside table, in the sofa cushions, on top of the refrigerator or where-ever else they store them so a family member, neighbor kid, or anyone else who should not have access to it, can get easy access to a loaded firearm.

I don’t know the answer to that. But, if you’re going to have children in the house it’s not a very bright idea to store your gun between couch cushions.

It comes down to ownership responsibility. When that gun comes into the house, it needs to be unloaded and fully locked up.

Cars are regulated as well.

Regulation doesn’t mean you no longer have use for the item. It mean protection are in place to lower risk of accidental death

I went through the same things when I put in my pool.

The last check was to see that my backyard gate would latch itself if opened to a 90 degree angle and released. It did. It was to prevent kids from getting to the pool from an unlatched gate. The city inspector told me I was good to go.

The fence on the other side of my house was torn down because the pool company still had equipment in my backyard. An elephant could have walked into the backyard.
The inspector didn’t even mention that.

Unless you can find an organization more qualified. Right now, they are they only one available. My state license to carry came through an NRA class. So it would make sense.
