It’s a hypothetical. I’ve conceded that it would never happen. But I wish we could at least try it to see the results.

Also I’ve never once suggested that banning guns would suddenly remove the ability for a criminal to get them.

It would just make it much harder to do so. Especially for the casual citzen.

Registration is a good thing. If you get caught with an unregistered firearm…it could be an automatic 10 year sentence. The law would have to be constructed in such a way that the government couldn’t use that registration to remove a firearm from any person without due process. Unless that person used that firearm in the commission of a crime. If that happens then I think it would be an automatic 10 year prison sentence as well or longer.

I am referring to registering guns with the state. If one moves, needs to re-register, like a car.

Between proper training, storage and safety being required, with certification…suicides and accidents would be dramatically reduced.

Mass shooting would most likely be reduced as well.

As far as everyday gun violence. It would be less…but with the amount of illegal guns, that will never be registered…it will not have as big of an impact.

Still seems like a good ROI.

Much to my surprise, my 25 year old son went out on his own, went through all of the classes and now has a concealed carry permit.

Never in my life would I have expected him to do that.

But, I was proud of him for going to classes, learning and taking the time to study properly so he can handle a gun with the respect it deserves to be handled with.

I think if you are going to own a gun, training and continuing education is something a responsible gun owner would do.

And to add to this. How many gun owners don’t store their firearm in a safe and proper manner. I. E. fully loaded under the pillow, under the mattress, in the bedside table, in the sofa cushions, on top of the refrigerator or where-ever else they store them so a family member, neighbor kid, or anyone else who should not have access to it, can get easy access to a loaded firearm.

I don’t know the answer to that. But, if you’re going to have children in the house it’s not a very bright idea to store your gun between couch cushions.

Regulation doesn’t mean you no longer have use for the item. It mean protection are in place to lower risk of accidental death
