How about what’s suggested in the OP until we “invest” trillions of dollars in every impoverished country in the world?

“Migrant caravan containing thousands travels through Mexico toward US border: ‘Tell Biden we are coming’ | Fox News” Migrant caravan containing thousands travels through Mexico toward US border: 'Tell Biden we are coming' | Fox News

“The Biden administration has blamed root causes like poverty, corruption and violence in Central America elsewhere and has pledged massive investments of taxpayer money to try and combat those root causes.”

Still waiting, so what’s the answer progs?

…still waiting?

Correct. They are not illegals.

Illegals enter the United States, illegally and don’t pursue asylum status when they enter.

These ain’t them.

Allan

So what would be your response to the OP, which I’ll post again:

So as far as we can tell there’s no end in sight for everyone in the world seeking asylum to make the dangerous and arduous trek to our border. The truly ironic thing about this is that both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris said not to come this way. Nonetheless here they still come? Furthermore, it is also the case that few if any want to go anywhere else:

New York Post – 30 Oct 21

Migrant caravan rejects offers of visas by Mexican authorities 1
A caravan of more than 3,000 migrants from Central America is advancing through Mexico, after leaders rejected the country’s offers of visas.

The only proposal I’ve heard from those on the Left is to “invest” in those countries that people are fleeing from. The problem with this approach though is that it could take many years and may not yield results that are satisfactory them. So that approach likely would not be acceptable to the people all over the world seeking asylum or a better life for their children.

So what’s the answer? Continue to let all these people, including children, make this dangerous and arduous journey? How about offering anyone in the world who wishes to make an asylum claim to fly them to America? Would that not be a more humane and compassionate approach than to have them make the dangerous and arduous journey through Mexico? You could even extend the offer to all people in the world seeking to provide their children a better life.

Thus far from all these various discussions this would seem to be the approach you would be most in favor of. If not this then what is the answer?

You can claim refugee status WITHOUT coming to America.

It’s done all the time.

Allan

If they don not feel safe where they are why not bring them all here if that’s what they want?

Because that’s not the way the system works.

If you are outside the country, you apply for refugee status.

If you are inside the US or at a point of entry. It’s asylum status.

Allan

How’s the system working for all the asylum seekers making the long arduous trek to our border, many being injured, falling ill and even dying on their way here? How’s it working for the women and girls, 80% of whom are being raped on the way here? Let’s not forget all of these people being exploited by human traffickers whom are are making millions from the current system.

They should just apply for refugee status. That way you cut out the middleman and don’t have to travel.

Allan

Here’s the reason why

“President Joe Biden has signed the Presidential Determination on Refugee Admissions, raising the annual refugee admissions goal to 125,000 for fiscal year 2022.”

The United States has made it easy to apply for and get refugee status in 2022.

Allan

Asylee’s/refugees fear for their lives, do they not?

And the irony is …modern American whites are less racist than most of the other people here.

Not quite.

Here is the standard.

Under United States law, a refugee is someone who:

  1. Is located outside of the United States
  2. Is of special humanitarian concern to the United States
  3. Demonstrates that they were persecuted or fear persecution due to race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group
  4. Is not firmly resettled in another country
  5. Is admissible to the United States

Allan

The lot of White supremacists excluded from that statement, naturally.

Allan

Quite the modern Americans that the patriot front are.

Allan

The ones who post with an avatar of a raised white fist? Those white supremacists? Yeah… excluded.

Is that…1…2…3…maybe 4 white supremacists there?

42 chapters of those modern white Americans known as the patriot front whose manifesto disparages people of color.

Allan

They are obviously not doing that as there’s been no slowing of the surge of people coming to our border.
