America Party-Will It Work?

Founded and run by a woman the people never heard of.

Musks wealth is effectively limitless compared to Perot, giving him unparalleled ability to fund candidates, campaigns, and create the infrastructure needed without the constraints Perot faced. This massive financial edge lets Musk operationalize his political vision on a scale Perot could only dream of.

You made a good point about Harris’s war-chest and yes she had over a billion in dollars but mismanagement (possibly
self-serving in my view) diluted its impact. Musk’s resources, paired with his ability to focus strategically (as seen with the success of his many businesses) avoid these pitfalls.

Perot used newspapers, radio, and TV to reach voters, which was groundbreaking for the 90s. Even in England we knew all about Ross Perot but Musk leverages the internet and X to engage millions instantly and crucially different - interactively. This is not only on a national scale but globally.

Dismissing the impact of the digital age ability on political reach ignores how it’s transformed communication and influence in every aspect in our lives

Musk is not just Perot 2.0 he is operating in a entirely different league.

I’ve voted for worse.

In my opinion it will help ensure DEMs take back the WH in 2028.

What constraints did Perot face?

Depends.

If they run a Massie or Cheney type the effect will be almost zero.

Only maga haters would vote for them and those are already voting against Trump or MAGA candidates.

The Bill Krystal, Liz Cheney types.

What difference does that make? Does the globe vote in US elections?

Trump can’t run.

No ■■■■■

I said they were already voting against Trump and MAGA candidates.

Past tense.

Gives a big clue as to how their votes against a MAGA style 2028 candidate would effect things.

Very little to zero.

You have a very odd perspective on US elections.

The 2024 election was the most expensive in history at $16B, for all campaigns.

Perot could have done half of that or close to it. You think Musk will 100% finance all campaigns?

Harris and Trump together spent $3.5B, Perot could cover both sides. And 2024 was the most expensive in history (64% of Trump’s went to media, Harris-79%).

Despite vapors to the contrary, one cannot “buy” the White House, only the media. And obviously buying media does not translate to buying the office.

There is more competition in “media” now in media than ever before. Even in '92, Perot didn’t have big media in his pocket. Teump actually attacks them, and won twice.

If a candidate tells the voting what they want to hear, they don’t particularly care how they hear it. They will vote for it, then accept the abuse once they are invested.

What “cOrpOratiOns!” got Trump elected?

I have already explained that he had the constraints of the technology available at the time when compared to what Musk has available.

If Perot was running today I have no doubt he would get more tractions because of the internet.

I suspect you are not wanting a real discussion on this which is a pity as your OP was great.

Thats right just focus on just one single word instead of the overarching post.

There are no MAGA-style candidates. The messianic thing only works with indivduals.

You went how many years between Reagan and Trump? 27, over a generation.

And Trump lied, that will set you back.

MAGA is finished in '28. Better start looking at America First™ .

Trump didn’t win because of technology. He won because of ressentiment.

It’s a big word. What impact did you have in '92 from england? That hasn’t changed.

Who wanted Trump to win globally either time? And yet he won.

I don’t see how that is possible. What does that even mean?

For instance, Musk had a big falling out over the budget. He basically is agreeing with the fiscal conservative hardliners. That doesn’t look like a centrist position to me.

They just like the sound of those LW talking points. One doesn’t really need to know anything about a particular topic to recite them.

Money talks.

No he’s talking about a completely different thing when Elon called trump a pedo.

First, you’ve got to have a platform. Thus far we really don’t know what he stands for.
