Over the years here on this forum nobody has put forth more pro third party threads than myself. In all those threads there’s been no belief that there will ever be a viable third party.
I agree with you that there will be no viable third party; however no one with the virtually limitless financial resources that Musk has tried a third party before.
If he is serious about a third party (which I am still not convinced he is) his wealth could make a difference.
Transportation:
The law provides $110 billion for roads, bridges, and other major projects, $66 billion for passenger and freight rail, and $39 billion to modernize public transit.
Broadband:
A major focus is on expanding access to high-speed internet, with $65 billion allocated for broadband development, aiming to close the digital divide.
Energy:
The law includes $73 billion to overhaul the nation’s power infrastructure, including clean energy transmission and overall energy policy, with a goal of transitioning to a cleaner energy future.
Can’t speak for Gooddad, but sure, SOME of the contents were in the proper purview of fedgov spending. (And that’s without considering how much of THAT was done with crony allocation and wasteful design.)
Donald Trump campaigned on a $1 trillion infrastructure plan. “We are going to fix our inner cities and rebuild our highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, schools, hospitals,” he said in his 2016 election night victory speech. “And we will put millions of our people to work as we rebuild it.”
Under Obama:
Improved over 42,000 miles of roads and nearly 2,700 bridges.
Funded 850 new transit facilities, almost 12,000 new buses, and nearly 700 new rail cars.
Repaired approximately 800 airport facilities.
Under Biden
Started improvements on over 196,000 miles of roads and launched over 11,400 bridge repair projects, increasing safety and reconnecting communities across the country;
Replaced 367,000 lead pipes, benefitting nearly 1 million people, with funding continuing to be deployed for more replacements;
Provided funding to deploy over 4,600 American-made transit buses, more than doubling their number on America’s roadways, and funded approximately over 8,900 clean school buses;
Delivered funding for over 580 port and waterway projects to strengthen supply chains, speed up the movement of goods, lower costs, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions;
Trump:
In April 2019, President Trump signed two executive orders intended to accelerate energy infrastructure projects. The first makes it harder for oil pipelines and other energy projects to be delayed due to environmental concerns. The second modernizes the approval process for projects crossing international borders.
Are you suggesting the pace is too slow? According to your link Congress just approved funding to rebuild the bridge in December 2024. Sounds like a government problem. Also the bridge collapsed less than 14 months ago.
Weird. I’m trying to figure out why you responded to me. I posted a link showing that like Obama and Biden, Trump supports funding infrastructure projects. To that you responded with info about the Francis Scott Key Bridge. What are you (or apparently some guy on Twitter) saying about the bridge?
