The very reason for creating and granting power to a central government is declared in our very Constitution:,“. . . to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defense and general Welfare of the United States…”

I would say that indicates an America first directive.

No. Pointing out that the discussion we are having is about todays workers, not two generations ago.

It doesn’t say anything.

58,000 isn’t that great for the amount of work and eventual health issues that come with comes with mining.

You can make a lot more money than that at an inland oil rig. It’s still dangerous, but it’s not coal mining, which is a guaranteed way to get all sort of nasty lung issues.

Unskilled is a huge canard anyway. Even a burger flipper has to be trained how to flip burgers when it’s their job. I’m not sure how anyone can say an opening that requires years of experience is unskilled with a straight face. If a job was unskilled, any idiot could walk in off the street and do it. Without any sort of training at all.

Manufacturing has procedures that have to be followed. People who don’t follow procedures don’t keep their jobs. They also cost the company time and money. If companies paid people halfway decent they might actually retain employees which is a hell of a lot cheaper than having to train new ones every couple of months after somebody quits to go work somewhere else for more money. Those employees might also give a crap about their work if they weren’t preoccupied with wondering if their next measly paycheck is going to be enough to cover their next meal or keep a roof over their head. But priorities.

It says everything.

No worries, robots will replace most of them soon anyway.

Sure they will. Any day now. Gotta keep the dream alive.

Interesting take

Recently I posted that not being the world’s Gladys Kravitz is not being “isolationist”.

Merit based immigration. If a person doesn’t have a skill or cannot use the skill to support a family then coming to this country should be denied.

Cheap products from China isn’t putting America first. An American made I Phone should cost just as much as one from China by means of tariff so the paying field is equal.

We should not be supporting China at all.

Well, well…

Unfortunately they chose “anti”, already off on the wrong foot. Maybe they can get right.
