The basic needs of people who choose not to work will be taken care of by technology. If you want more than your basic needs met, you’ll still have to work.

A minimum income becomes the new poverty level.
Nor does it address the need for people to feel productive and have purpose.

Yes, it will meet only basic needs. If you want more, you’ll still need a job.
People on basic minimum income who don’t feel productive or have purpose in life can still get a job. Jobs will still exist, the difference is they’ll be jobs people want to do, not jobs of necessity.

That’s where we are right now.

Exactly. People will always want what others have worked for without working for it.

I’m not sure what your point is relevant to this thread. The premise is that technology will allow everyone to have more without working for it. That’s a good thing.

You would want to work because you want more than a minimum income, or at least I would.
If I choose to work do I still get that minimum income? Basically I would work to supplement that minimum income. Otherwise if I’m not entitled to the same minimum income as everyone else, wouldn’t the government actually be paying me not to work?
So basically everyone starts out on the same level playing field and those who want to better themselves will flourish and those who choose not to will live at the very bottom of society. How is that really any different than today?
People won’t be destitute.
The homeless problem won’t be solved by guaranteeing everyone in America free money.
Sure they will. You mistakenly assume that everyone receiving this free money will use it wisely.

Oh I don’t think it would eliminate it entirely but I am fairly sure the problem would be greatly reduced.
There is no such thing as a homeless Afghan. We can do better.
No, I’m quite serious, as I was there.
You ever seen how houses get built there?
