That’s what quotas are all about. Another DEM invention with unintended consequences. I’ve read more than a few stories about highly qualified blacks who felt out of place because they were lumped together with those less qualified blacks who were only there because of a quota.

And coming from an impoverished family of 10, I didn’t have the same opportunity as someone from a wealthy family who could afford to send their child to the best colleges.

Its all about overcoming ones obstacles, whether they be race based or otherwise. That’s what highly motivated successful people do. But that’s not what DEMs want. They want people to wallow in their own self pity so that DEMs can play the victim card and rescue them with a new government program.

Come on peek. I know you can grasp the English language.

“Again” is not about looking forward.

loll.

So? what I said is still true becuase of my age.

The generation driectly above me went to school when plenty of scools were still segeragated.

You are focused on the campaign slogan and not on the results. With Trump we moved forward, not backward.

And as an aside with Obama we moved backward in terms of race relations.

And???

So? I was raised by white grandparents that went to segregated schools.

That was then, this is now.

It sucked and it was immoral. But it is what is. Can’t change it.

We learn from it and take measures to make sure it never happens again. That’s all that can be done.

Agree.

But we also can recongnize that because of that chpater in american history, some black americans today are still at a disadvantage. It has longer lasting effects that reach into generations after those who were denied a good education.

Simple truth is that sometimes life sucks, sometimes life isn’t so bad. Everyone is dealt a poker hand. Some folks get pocket aces, some get a 2 and a 6 offsuit. Ultimately, you can still win with an offsuit hand. You have to play differently.

And that’s life in a nutshell. If you’re born in poverty, or into an abusive home, etc. you’ve got to play your cards differently from those born into wealth and stability. Success can still be found. You may have to work a little harder, and be a little more street smart. But it can be done. People do it all the time.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. :+1:

Why do we have to look back and recognize???

There will always be those who need to work harder than others to overcome whatever obstacles might stand in their way. That’s life.

That’s not the central problem in the black community.

The central problem is a culture that accepts fatherlessness.

It impacts all of us. Even us mixed kids.

A lot of things that are untrue seem “self evident”. I think I’ll stick with actual scientific studies.

What is the source of this racism?

Yes, it was a really big thing, affirmative action back in the 90s. I do believe it isn’t such a big issue now as it was then…Question, do you think affirmative action helped or hurt minorities and women?

Yeah…sure feels like we did…

I believe it did more damage than good.

I do too…does that make me a racist?
