Alabama bans "Arthur" episode because it revolves around a gay wedding

Sorry, I just cannot resist. Yes folks, the state of Alabama banned an episode from the show “Arthur” because the lead character attends a gay wedding ceremony. Can you believe it folks? It’s 2019, and the state of Alabama continues to show they are the slowest to progress. Most Americans support same-sex marriage, and now roughly 50% of Republicans do.

These are the same people who keep trying to elect Roy Moore. They’re idiots.

Abortions and Arthur. Looks l8ke they are starting with the letter A.

Can you believe it folks? Not wanting to brainwash children through cartoons?

I mean, if the Liberal Politicians, and Liberal Media can’t brainwash people, how else
will they win elections? lol.

You’ve got who’s doing the brainwashing backward.

Better ban any shows that feature characters who are business owners. I don’t want my children to be brainwashed about capitalism.

Brainwash how? People are born gay, lesbian, bisexual, and trans. It’s not a choice. Telling children it’s okay to be who are, is a good thing, rather than teaching children they should hate themselves and suppress their feelings.

no one watches Arthur then goes you know want I wanna marry a dude.

The episode reflects what kids will see in the real world. They will hear about gay marriage. No brainwashing. What’s the big deal?

Sorta dumb and unnecessary. The state of Alabama, in its infinite wisdom, as the caretaker of stolen funds, wants to set a cull factor on how those stolen funds are spent. Serious breach of protocol.

Every state throughout America, shouldn’t have individual rights!!!
After all, isn’t that the Democrat way?

Overthrow the rights of the States choice, and the Constitutional Amendments.
Socialist Liberal ways should be forced upon every state, weather they like it or not!!!
lol

What the hell are you talking about?

Are you sure you’re in the right thread? Maybe time for a nappypoo.

Moved because the article doesn’t give any indication that it was any politicians, or law in the state. It mearly states the public tv station (usually a not for profit corporation affiliated with the Corporation for public broadcasting) has said they won’t air the show.

Canada banned a movie “Unplanned” because it had a pro-life message. But I hear crickets about that.

Listen, I support same-sex marriage, as well as same-sex couples adopting children. However, a private TV station has the right to ban what they want. The state is a different matter. I’ll bet they can still watch it on Netflix, if Hey, Arthur is on there. No worries.

Nobody is arguing they don’t. I am not saying what they did was illegal, just stupid/idiotic/backwards. Nobody should be offended by a gay wedding. Weddings are suppose to be a time for joy and happiness.

I agree on a personal level.

I had no idea that Canada banned the movie Unplanned. I do not support that as well. I generally focus on issues impacting Americans, not Canadians.

Don’t you find it odd that a station would BAN an episode of Arthur because it had a same-sex wedding? Most of our country supports allowing government marriage. It’s not like we’re talking about incest or glorifying animal abuse.

In my humble view, life is messy and filled with sadness and happiness. Art is suppose to reflect both the positives and negatives of humanity. Stations refusing to air programs because they feel it’s offensive is missing the point of art and our world.

I do. I think it’s ludicrous and that someone’s pants are on a little too tight. There is beauty in tragedy as there is in joy. Art should reflect this. A true musician or artist, pours their heart into their work.

Funny I never hear any shaming of liberal cities on this Forum when some of their history is similar, but, hey, it’s the conservative south, so it’s OK.

Love the double standards, folks. But really, Arthur is a dumb show, & doesn’t isn’t PBS subject to local influence?

If the powers to be in Bama don’t want to show a gay or trans wedding on a dumb show like Arthur, more power to ‘em. I’d say the same if viewers of the show wanted to watch that same episode in Boston.

Don’t like it?! Don’t watch.
