Ag. Sec. calls farmers whiners

At a Farmfest listening session with farmers in Minnesota, Perdue hit back at the complaints with his joke: “What do you call two farmers in a basement? A whine cellar.”

As he pounded the table in mirth, some of the thousands of farmers at the event laughed nervously — which was followed by boos.

“It was definitely not an appropriate thing to say,” Minnesota Farmers Union President Gary Wertish told HuffPost. “It was very insensitive. It took everyone by surprise. He doesn’t understand what farmers are dealing with, and he’s the head of the Department of Agriculture. He’s supposed to be working for farmers.”

Farm income over the last 5 years is down nearly 50%. Down 16% last year alone. And our Ag. Sec. is mocking the farmers to their face.

Wow. What jerk.

What a dumb ass.

Trump has the golden opportunity to snatch this land pennies on the dollar, and turn them into casinos and hotels.

Since these farmers are moochers, kick them off the land. Maybe Donnie will be nice and let them work at his casino or hotel.

Trump’s AG. Sec. is right. Real farmers know that Trump knows what he’s doing regarding trade wars. He knows better than the dumb Democrats anyways. Americans farmers know that whatever Donald Trump is doing is going to be better for them than what Hillary Clinton would have done to them. They really dodged a bullet when Trump was elected. They will vote for Trump again because the Democrats hate farmers.

I’m sure it will make a great campaign ad when the presidential election cycle gets into the post primary season.

You have to wonder how anyone could make it this far up the ladder, saying stupid things like that?

Some make it even higher than that.

Maybe since his boss celebrates the power of whining to get what he wants, Perdue considered this a compliment?

I hate to admit it, but Perdue was once governor of my home state of GA.

Glad we at least helped him relocate. Everyone else can get a taste of our pain now.

It’s what we’ve come to expect from the Trump administration. Incompetence riddled with clueless.

Who needs farmers anyway, right? We can just get our food from the grocery store.

Who’s this guy’s boss? Is his boss going to do anything, or is this considered acceptable behavior?

Perdue had an amazingly awful commercial when he ran for re-election as governor. He and his wife talked about putting campaign promises on his “Sonny-do” list. Looks like he will have to put apologizing on it now.

I thought Trump only hired the best. Of course Trump is not responsible for the crass and badly judged joke but Trump is his boss so it will be interesting to see how he handles this.

Exhausting and often embarrassing.

This is just sad. Attitudes like this come straight from the top. Another wealthy elitist who has no idea what it’s like to struggle and fight to make it through another hard day of work.

We’re back to “ how stupid are the people of Iowa”

It’s not enough to support Trump, you have to thank him for the tariffs too.
