Not going to ask whether one liked the town hall or not as it will likely fall down political lines. I am more curious about the reaction with many of the media who were basically saying he shouldn’t have been given a platform . And since it was a success in rating which I put in the last paragraph are the news agencies likely to ignore these calls for not giving Trump a platform? Or do they repeat 2015-16 and go to where the money is.
I personally hope DeSantis wins the primary but how can you not cover the Republican front runner on news agencies? I am reading tweets from politicians and have listened to some commentary that say he should have never been allowed a platform at CNN?
Rating Numbers for the CNN town hall. 3.3 million viewers which CNN rarely sees numbers like that anymore.
By the numbers: CNN’s town hall reached more than 780,000 people in the critical 25 to 45-year-old advertising demo.
That’s more than four times the average number reached in the demo during its typical 8pm program hosted by Anderson Cooper.
The town hall also gave CNN a significant boost in the 9pm through 11pm hours that followed the event.
it was also kinda funny how he pulled out his tweets and read off all the times he referred to being “peaceful” etc leading up to j6 after she rolled out on big wooden wheels the ol’ “why did trump wait to say anything on j6” narrative of idiocy for her believers.
No reason not to give a platform to the front-runner for the Republican 2024 nomination but what I question is whether this was a “Town Hall.” The audience was composed on “Republican Primary Voters” and “Republican Leaning Independents” who cheered and laughed at each due and who served up softball questions. That gave the event the feeling a mini-Trump rally rather than a town hall with a representative sample of Americans.
people still think these people are “journalists” and that they are a “news” network
“ Cooper ended with a warning that Trump could become president again, telling viewers that “staying in your silo” isn’t going to make Trump disappear,”
cnn tries to protect you form evil trump. they’re doing god’s work.
Why shouldn’t a Townhall for the front runner in the GOP primary have an audience of Republicans? You would have a point if it was for the general election. CNN dropped the ball by asking him questions Democrats care about instead of questions Republicans care about.
