The system broke in 1973 under the Nixon Administration. It carried into the Carter Administration. It caused Americans to buy for the first time, Japanese “rice burners” for the better gas mileage. What they discovered was that when it was time to trade their American made car…the rice burner was still going. It was at this time, the US discovered Japanese automotive quality.
To be fair, I’ve changed since returning. In the past, I never would have participated in this kind of thread. I figured I would offer a simple statement that I thought Carter was a worse President than Biden. Not surprisingly, there were a lot of responses.
Within that context I attempted to explain my position. And of course, a small handful of members mistook that as a support of Biden and his policies. Of course nothing could be further from the truth.
But on the positive side, there were less forum members this go 'round that were ready and willing to jump on the “Peak is really a closet LIB bandwagon”.
Trump stopped it or came very close. He got the wall and it’s construction paid for. Stop looking backwards and focus on that moment in time when Biden took the helm. He purposefully and traitorously dismantled the great practices Trump had implemented to stop it. Now…do you deny this truth?
You act as if there’s no way to objectively measure the number of border crossings that occurred under Biden compared to Trump. You seriously can’t make an objective judgement that a wall is a deterrent to the number of people crossing the border illegally? You can’t objectively realize that remain in Mexico policy was a deterrent to people illegally coming into our country? You can’t objectively admit that a openly stated policy of providing free healthcare and education and housing and free transportation to the American city of your choice does not entice people to come here illegally?
This is an interesting chart. It shows border crossings decreased significantly beginning in 2006, towards the end of Bush’s presidency. It continued to decrease under Obama and then stabilized. It remained stable under Trump and then skyrocketed under Biden.
Yep! My skyrocketed comment was in comparison with 2010 - 2020. What I find to be interesting is the period between 2010 and 2020. That looks to be an oddity.
We will quickly see if Trump is able to get the numbers back down to the 2010-2020 range and possibly below.
Interesting fact:
Obama did the same prior to the 2016 national election. Trump topped off the SOR tanks with oil purchased at the lowest market prices. OBiden, in his warped protracted quest to lower fuel prices by draining the SORs replenished ( if at all) with oil at scorchingly high prices. What a genius!
“While Trump poured resources into detaining asylum seekers, he also released nearly 58,184 noncitizens with criminal records, including 8,620 violent criminals and 306 murderers;“
