We know Michael Cohen lied to protect his boss many many times. I’ve no doubt he lied to Mr. Hannity many, many times. He was lying if he told Mr. Hannity Donald knew nothing about the payments to Ms.Clifford. We know this because we heard Donald on tape discussing how to pay her off, and we saw the check made out to Michael Cohen that he signed while President. Weissleberg will confirm this when he testifies in front of the Committee. SDNY also knows everything about this scheme as they gave Weissleberg partial immunity and Pecker full immunity. SDNY also has all the documents that proves Donald is lying.
I don’t think it matters what he told Mr. Hannity before he was indicted and convicted for numerous crimes. Cohen’s job was always to protect Donald from unsavory and illegal things from getting out.
I believe the interview was used simply for Donald to say he knew nothing about the payoff scheme to fool his fanboys, who have likely forgotten or never knew that he admitted to paying her off, as did his lawyer, Mr. Giuliani.
I believe the interview was a set up for Donald to deliver that lie. Nothing more.
That was true once but back in 2017 Hannity referred to himself as an advocacy journalist and an opinion journalist. The below article quotes where Hannity said that to The Times. The link below takes you to the interview so you can read Sean’s words for yourself.
You just went on about responsible journalism. Is it responsible to ignore the police investigation findings and concoct elaborate conspiracy theories including prominent political figures?
It’s almost identical to Trump and his supporters refusal to accept what our intelligence services tell them. They point to Iraqi WMDs and say “See! Can’t be trusted. Only believe Trump.”
If Trump came out saying the sky was red, they’d say blue skies were a NWO conspiracy by our government and believe Trump while staring at a blue sky. It’s remarkable how easily his base is manipulated and adulates him.
It wasn’t even a controversy. It was made up out of whole cloth lies from Republican activists that got traction in some quarters because of who was promoting it.
I’d like to see Republican media and media figures pretend to hold themselves to a small fraction of the professionalism they demand from everybody else.
