Those tests are as inaccurate as hell.

I thought the test kits were at-home kits. No need to send in. But I haven’t seen what they actually send. I’ve used two “at-home” tests that I bought at CVS on my SO. Got two negatives. Looks like some kind of chromatography. There’s chemistry involved and certainly 80 proof alcohol is going to invalidate any such test that was not designed for that substance.

But it is likely that there would be more false positives than false negatives. That’s the nature of systems designed to warn of potentially bad situations. I’m more familiar with how aircraft warning systems will tend to have more false positives vs false negatives that a missile is coming at it than I am with medical tests. But there is some similarity in the thought process of setting false positive and false negative thresholds.
