How long are you making minimum wage…40 years? That doesn’t happen unless there’s more to the story but I promise you, there aren’t many people out there as you just described, that work for forty years and not improve their life because they improve in what ever it is they’re doing and become more valuable to the employer.

While I think universal coverage will never happen, not here in the US, I think that almost everyone is in agreement that Universal Catastrophic coverage should be a thing.

Wouldn’t cost much if we cap it at 10k per year. First 10k is your responsibility and then it kicks in.

Then, use insurance for that first 10k or allow tax free HSAs to cover it.

Solves a lot of problems.

Less than half of Min. wage workers are younger than 24.

But that doesn’t matter. People get sick at all ages. Have serval cancer surviving friends who were sick in their 20s.

If you’re making minimum wage and you’re older than 24…as I said…it didn’t just happen…there’s a reason and most likely…it’s one’s choices along the way. It didn’t just happen. If you do not build your house to with stand the huffs and puffs of the big, bad wolf of life…he’ll blow your house down. The problem is that most build their houses of straw. Fix that and we won’t be having this discussion about who pays for their healthcare.

So…each of us are little pigs and we have a choice when “we” go out on our own; build your house of straw, sticks or bricks? When someone gives their best efforts and attempts to build their house with bricks but the big, bad wolf of life blows it down, then “we” IMO should have your back. When it’s garbage in to our nation…it should be garbage out. It may sound cold but I want everyone to give their best efforts in all that they do and if this happens, our whole country will reflect that and “we” are all stronger as a result. What I don’t want to do is encourage bad behavior that weakens our country.

You are being foolish and arguing a false equivalency. In a debate about the american health care system, bringing up the real but unrelated plight of poor people in other nations is absurd. They are a separate problem.
