Well, this might be a regional thing, but yeah, here in NJ, E.PA, the night before thanksgiving is a rager. Like full blown new years eve/st. paddy’s day hard core bar scene party time.

And dominated by young people.

This is a smart move.

Seems the smart move. The night before Thanksgiving is one of the biggest bar nights of the year. Crowds everywhere.

don’t really care since they are not all that vulnerable. what they do after makes a big difference though… for gods sake, stay away from grandma!

ain’t fascism great!

Why are they morons for exercising their right to party!

you think they won’t do it anyway? it just won’t be in a bar. this changes nothing

a better restriction would be to remain masked and drink through a straw… if only we could use bendable plastic straws.

maybe some enterprising young interprenuer can invent “party masks” with built in straws

the governor is a moron. they ain’t gonna “not party”, they’ll just do it elsewhere.

I think it will cut WAY DOWN on the get togethers. Again, maybe this is different in other areas, but half the point of the night is to get out of your house. If there are no bars to meet at, cuts way down on venues since the young folk are all home with family. Can’t really throw a rager while mom and dad are home.

I think that is actually a great idea!

Do it man!

It’s already a thing. Just do an Amazon search and you’ll find lots of masks with straw holes. Some even have a zipper.

it will cut down on nothing. they’ll just go to parties where there is no chance of any supervision. wear a mask, drink through a straw or leave. that would do more than shutting the bar down

Based on what?

Based on it has
My son goes to ASU. Pretty much one of the biggest party school in the nations.

Parties are WAY down. Not zero, but way less then year in passed.

TNT- is correct. People go out to bars to party, listen to live music, hook up, etc.

Close the bars is reduces it a LOT.

It’s a smart call.

C’mon man, cut way down? An insignificant amount at best. If people intend to go out and party, closing bars is not going to get them to abort plans. They’ll just go back to pre 21 mode.

I don’t plan to live in a cave. I will simply wear a mask when I’m out in public (within reason!).

Where? They are all home with their parents for the holidays.

Which is hard to do when you are home with the folks.

Where are they going to get together?

Where did you get together when you were young? Folks don’t all stay home. They travel to other people’s houses to celebrate. The empty venues will be where they meet. I did it a milllion times when I was in my late teens and early 20s.

I’m a toll collector and this week is the busiest time in regards to collecting tolls. Always has been. I’m on vacation this week so I can’t tell you if the traffic is normal for this time of year. But I will ask people working if there is any noticeable difference. I’m just curious. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thanksgiving day is usually ridiculous in regards to traffic.

Right - we gt together in houses where the parents were gone.

This is thanksgiving. The reason the kids are home is because that is where their parents are.

I’m sure there will be some wednesday night house parties, but I just don’t see the mass exudous from teh bars into people’s homes as realistic.

Sure it is.
