I think the House should put it to a vote to expel.

If he’s not in Congress then the question is moot.

Open debate on the floor and let each side present their case.

EDIT: And no, I don’t think a sitting Congress person should be extradited without their day in court. Just pointing out that the day in court will take months, and depending on how long they can delay it could be a year or two. In which case McCarthy wins.

And how do you feel about the routine liar in the White House?

Addressing just this EXTREMELY misunderstood provision of the Constitution.

https://constitution.congress.gov/browse/essay/artI-S6-C1-2/ALDE_00013354/

The above link fully explains this.

In short, the privilege from arrest given in the Constitution is very narrow. It only applies to arrests arising from civil suits and imprisonment for debt, both things that were still very common in the United States in 1787, but are virtually non-existent today. It would also protect from arrest and detention for CIVIL contempt of court.

But, as the Supreme Court has long since determined, it does not protect from arrest and detention for ANY crime or criminal contempt of court.

It would not protect Santos from arrest by domestic authorities (i.e. New York State or the Federal Government) or by foreign authorities (i.e. Brazil).

Thank you and I don’t disagree.

My point, which I still believe, isn’t that he wouldn’t be sent. It is that there will be delaying tactics through the Judiciary that will delay him being sent.

stealing money from a disabled vet… and yet the GOP wont toss him to the curb. tells you what the GOP really thinks of veterans…

now that santos has been outed as a drag queen will the GOP toss him to the curb?

OMG it’s him! That’s too funny, knowing how MTG feels about drag queens. Will this be the final straw, or will they all act like this is perfectly fine? Truthfully, stealing from the the homeless vet is a lot worse.

Schiff needs to present his proof of Trump collusion with Russia right now or resign in disgrace.
His lie did a thousand times more damage to the country than Santo’s lies about his background.

I must admit I am surprised at the lack of response from cons on this new reveal of Santos.

His actions in this situation are despicable, regardless of what any other elected member of Congress may have done or not done this guy seems to sink to new lows each day.

As I have said before we as the electorate need to demand more from those who want to represent us in government.

We shouldn’t demand anything his constituents should.

Maybe you need to start the changes on your side of the aisle.

I am talking bigger picture here. But I get it no conservative is ever going to condemn Santos simply because he is a Republican. All we get is but what about “insert name” here. If he was a dem I would be saying he is just as big a piece of human excrement as I think he is currently.

In my area I would rather have a Republican win than have a dem like Santos represent me. Maybe its because as an electorate we are resigned to the fact that politicians are ■■■■■■ bags that we are encouraging only ■■■■■■ bags to run.

I would kick them all out and start over if it was up to me.

Making a change starts with us the electorate being more picky about who we support at election time. No more mindless voting on both sides just becsuse someone is a dem or a rep. Maybe we need to consider character more.

But as a nation we are incredibly lazy when it comes to voting and dems vote for dems regardless and vice versa.

Voting is like choosing anything in this country: buyer beware. Unless an elected official does something illegal, they shouldn’t be removed from office for lying on their resume.

And if Santos is found guilty of a felony, in that case kick him out.

Funny how you throw all this out the window and voted for the liar in the white house at this moment.

Nice narrative you built.

You have never been on record saying that yet.

But suspect it is true but you don’t see the need to be here condeming every scumbag politician. Difference between you and me is I think your side can like I think my side can.

They are.

But the fact remains that there are only 3 ways for a House of Represenatives member to leave:

  • Resign
  • Be expelled by 3/rds Vote of the House
  • Feet first

There is nothing that his constituents can do if he refuses to resign and if the House Leadership protects him.

His constituents are demanding, House Leadership isn’t listening.

Funny cos I never voted for Biden. And that my friend is a fact.

Well I thought it was pretty obvious with my posts but yes if he was a dem I would be asking him to resign.

There is exaggerating ones accomplishments or padding a resume and then there is Santos. He takes it to a whole new level.

and yes I would like to see a mass replacement of all the crooks and con artists in Congress, alas it will not happen.
