A devastating question to the Left and the NeverTrumpers

.^

  1. Campaign fraud against the American people lying about paying a porn star for sex and hiding it while his wife was home after just giving birth to their child.

  2. Campaign finance law violation involving a corporate contribution to influence the campaign in the payment of $150,000 to the porn start through a “loan” by Michel Cohen that was orchestrated specifically to hide such a transfer to then pay the money back after the election.

  3. Attempted obstruction of justice in attempting to derail the investigation relating to illegal campaign contributions involved around paying a porn star for sex and hiding it while his wife was home after just giving birth to their child.

  4. Attempted obstruction of justice in attempting to derail the investigation into his National Security Advisers acting as an illegal foreign agent.

  5. Attempted obstruction of justice in attempting fire the Special Counsel investigating Russian interference in the 2016 elections.

  6. Violations of the Constitution’s Foreign Emoluments Clause.

  7. Abuse of power in attempting to use his office as President of the United States to blackmail a foreign government into making public statements about the lead candidate in opposition to his reelection to further his reelection campaign by withholding nearly 400 million in aid authorized by the Congress of the United States.

  8. Attempted obstruction of justice in attempting to out and exert undue public influence on the Intelligence Whistleblower process simply because a claim was made against the President.

NOTE: Remember impeachment is a political process and not a criminal one. Therefore one can be impeached by Congress for things that may or may not result in criminal charges.

Abuse of power , in the form of “malfeasance in office” or “official misconduct,” is the commission of an unlawful act, done in an official capacity, which affects the performance of official duties.

All of your charges are predicated on your assumption that the events you list actually occurred as characterised, and where they did, that the motive for them was as you imagine the motives to have been. If those assumptions are unable to be proved, then abuse of power cannot be proved.

It’s hard to see how Democrats are going to be able to prove a convicting set of motives rather than benign motives for acts which are not even illegal per se.

Ever time someone tries to pin criminal conduct standards to the impeachment process, they should be corrected to point out that such standards don’t apply to impeachment.

Impeachment is a political process not a criminal process. Abuse of power does not have to be an unlawful act to be impeachable.

In fact, it is specifically designed in the Constitution to include abuses of power that do not include “illegal acts”.

That’s what “high crimes” means.

I doubt it will ever register with some.

I simply do not understand how this thread has survived so much devastation?

I dont think pelosis will have the guts to go through with it. Last poll I saw had the country split with 47% in favor 43 opposed. Her moderate Democrats would be forced to a corner. Also Pelosi has made every attempt to show this is pure political. She could have garnered a lot of support outside her base she chose not to.

In addition McConnell thinks she has the guts to go through with it as he’s been prep’ing the Senate GOP to be ready to handle and dispose of impeachment between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Yes I see the poll has 55 for and 40 against. But I think the optics Pelosi is showing, to the country, is polarizing. I just came across this article that best sums up my feeling.

I really have my doubts this will go through. Right now as Pelosi is directing this, it seems more of a campaign show for the lack luster Democrat field.

Has anyone defined “abuse of power” in this thread?

Almost like it’s a built defense against “its technically not illegal.”

What trump is doing.

I would prefer that we investigate all elected officials and make sure they cant run while they are being investigated. That would work. We would still have the bureaucrats in power.

“What Trump is doing” is not a definition. It’s ludicrous that people call on impeachment for abuse of power, when they can’t even define what “abuse of power” means.

You want bureaucrats in power?!!

“Abuse of power” is one of those terms that define themselves.

Using official power towards illegitimate ends.

Mr. Thomson is likely to focus on the term “illegitimate” ends and again talk about criminal standards being required.

If I might suggest “illegitimate and/or unethical ends” would be more appropriate since impeachment is a political process not a criminal one.

Defying congressional subpoenas would be one example… Withholding foreign from a country until a bogus investigation is launched would be another…

Nope. Still not devastated.

Defying congressional subpoena’s is not a definition of “abuse of power”. If you can’t give a clear definition of " abuse of power" You have zero credibility in accusing someone of doing it.
