I’m a the resident computer geek in an HR environment. We do 100% background checks through CPS and submit fingerprints for criminal history, cost is $37.00 per applicant. E-Verify is FREE.

And even then there are alternatives to individual small businesses that can be created, such as:

1. Capitalism will kick in and companies will step up to the plate to offering background check services - which of course there already are - and those services can expand to include E-Verify. With online retailers you don’t even need to be physically present anymore, you can scan or photograph documents and attach them to email.***

2. For rural American E-verify services can be required to be offered by local city, country, state government offices or through police departments.

From the required I-9 Form: “I am aware that federal law provides imprisonment and/or fines for false statements or use of false documents in connection with completing this form. I attest under, under penalty of perjury, that I am (Check one of the following boxes):” The boxes are:

• A Citizen
• A non citizen national of the United States
• A Lawful permanent resident
• An Alien authorized to work until…

So…

For the employee, by working illegally they have broken other laws by working when they are not eligible and/or committed perjury and/or committed identity theft and/or proved false legal documents.

If the employer has no I-9 “Employment Eligibility Verification”, which the employer is required to keep for 3-years after date of hire or 1-year after employment ends whichever is later - the the employer is violating the law.

Well they won’t have a job (e-verify, and other measures). And most likely will be deported and not be eligible to come back.

You can’t deport 20 million illegal immigrants. Many of these immigrants have children, set roots and have lived here a long time.

Dry up their jobs and they will self deport. E-verify and heavy fines on anyone who hires them.

No jobs, no illegals. Easy peasy.
