I’ve said that for years.
Our school model is based on an antiquated agrarian society (9-10 month school year, with teacher contract of 180-200 days).
I’d tear it down and start from scratch.
** Schools would have three semesters per year with 2-3 week breaks between semesters.
** Teachers would be moved from 9-10 month contracts to 12 month contracts and become eligible to accrue vacation time like other professional EEs.
** Between semesters teachers would work on remediation/tutoring with students having problems, curriculum development, Professional Development or plan to use vacation time.
** Moving teachers from 9 or 10 month contracts to 12 month contracts would mean a pay increase of about 20-25%.
But really, building a new school model is a topic for it’s own thread.

The current $600?
I agree. It’s going to do very little for those most desperately in need of help.

Same here. School costs are exorbitant right now. And they are doing the best they can to provide some kind of education.

Our school system is hybrid with approximately 1/3 of the students in the buildings on any given day. The kids on the free lunch get food either in school or delivered home. Every student was given a lap top. Buses are running. The heat is on.

Really? Are you unaware that suicides and drug overdoses are about to bust 100,000 lives lost as a direct result of your nonsense?
One Country Had More Suicides in October Than COVID Deaths So Far This Year
COVID-19 Linked to Rising Suicide Rates Among Teens
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported that there were 81,230 drug overdose deaths in the year ending May 2020 — a new record, driven by fentanyl, with deaths accelerating during the coronavirus pandemic lockdowns.
Now ask yourself, where is the majority of this fentanyl coming from? The answer is CHINA!
The economic fallout is just another facet of this? We need to get back to work but do so smartly, considering the potential spread and taking precautions to limit exposure.

So as benefits expire for millions of Americans trump played golf, pence is in Vail skiing and Kelly m posted a pic of her drinking on a beach in Florida.
Nice that this administration has stayed focused on Americans.
And Trump called me human scum.

I’m not sure how you can definite link overdressed to lockdowns. Certainly the over all stress of the times including lock downs…but just that one aspect…not sure you can do that.
And btw regardless of government mandates plenty of businesses stopped operating. Airlines for example. Traffic is down an imprecise red amount yet there is no restrictions placed on them by the government.

As a Republican I’ve been saying since the Primaries that the GOP should nominate Trump, that he would be a mistake for my party and will result in long term damage.
I was right.

Not really. It was expected.

Good thing it wasn’t aimed at you then. lol
But hey, actual conservatives and actual republicans have been called way worse over the last four years. I can see why perpetual victim libs would want to hop on that bandwagon.

Yeah. Unreal. That is exactly what is so wrong with trump. The with me or against me attitude.
Because the Republican party had been so successful at combating the progressive liberals, you thought that Trump would damage that success.

More lives are lost during lockdowns than when opening things up…and it’s just that simple.
