Seems a little dicey. Any and all statues, or just particular statues? “Cows on Parade” was a thing for a while in Chicago, a bunch of cow statues popped up all around the city, would you have wanted the feds to have paid to have them transported to a national park and set on display?

So don’t use the monuments to lionize. Use them to educate.

My opinion is that the localities should have the only say in what does and doesn’t happen to the statues.

It is a Municipal issue, not a State or National one.

I’m much more supportive of this method as well.

But the addition I would make is that if a local community decided to remove a monument then there needs to be a national park type place where they get moved to, not destroyed.

It it was called the “National Park of Bad Ideas”… then sure.

But past that… it is usually municipal property. They can dispose of it however they wish.

No it didn’t. These were his remarks and there is NOTHING ambiguous about them:

“We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides”.

He is VERY CLEAR that he is STRONGLY condemning everyone who came there to do violence for their own reasons. The MEDIA decided that as long as he didn’t JUST condemn the one side he was “ambiguous”. He is TELLING you, however that he doesn’t give anyone who came there to do violence a pass, regardless of what side they were on.

You may not like that he also condemned Antifa and BLM, along with the Nazis and white supremacists, but he is NOT ambiguous.

I made no such claim about the far left. I said that Antifa was FAR MORE ACTIVE than the Nazis and that is 100% correct. And Antifa traffics in violence at their rallies at EVERY opportunity. It is the stock in trade of Antifa.

There is NO good defense of Antifa. They hurt complete innocents all the time, in their zeal to hurt their foes, and like the KKK before them, they often do it under cover, so as not to own it.

As demonstrated yesterday, their foes are whoever shines a light on them doing wrong. Yesterday it was the police and the reporters.
