Bound to happen, and needed to happen are different things.

When you say someone had to do it, you’re implying it was necessary. No one needed to do anything.

No one had to commit ethnic cleansing.

People have been displacing other people for as long as there have been people. It was done by people who at some later time were displaced themselves (re. eg. American Indians.) And it goes on today in places such as Brazil … by people who if they lived in this country would be considered minorities. While it may not be necessary in the strictest definition of the word, it is considered necessary by those doing the displacing. In other words, it is inherently normal for humans to displace other humans by force.

Cool doesn’t not make it not ethnic cleansing.
