I’m indifferent to this one.

High school is the time of life when students should be getting prepared for on the job social media policies. Many companies don’t care what’s said off company time just as long as the speaker doesn’t say it as a representative of Company X.

Are identifiers as school attended included in Snapchat? Am really not familiar with this social media platform.

No it isn’t. The brats must be there, & they should be able to conform to the school’s standards.

Since when does the Constitution apply to minors, anyway? They can’t vote. They can’t get a learner’s permit or work more than 20 hours a week during the school year. They can’t buy booze or cigs or join the Armed Forces, but they can shoot off their mouths any way they want?!

Couple of the local kids claimed the same nonsense when they agitated against another student on one of these platforms—it was just joking among friends.

It didn’t work, nor should it.

We have no idea what sort of lives the black students have outside school, or what sort of treatment they face. Maybe comments these students claimed were just “banter between friends” disrupted their learning.

These students need to prepare for the adult workplace, where public and private employers probably don’t even care if they call themselves White Lightning on Stormfront just as long as they don’t embarrass their employers spewing their filth.

A group of police officers in Florida got in trouble for using department only software to track the home address of a particularly attractive female officer.

Wanna try embarrassing a government agency or private employer publishing a nude shot? Or picture of yourself at a Klan rally? See if you’ve still got a job if you’ve listed them as an employer? (Generic “you” here, can apply to anyone reading the post).

As I’ve said, if you don’t list them as an employer, you can call yourself White Lightning on Stormfront & hate away if you don’t do so as a representative of their company.

These students are old enough to be preparing for corporate social media policies & can deal with suspension or mommy & daddy taking away their phones. They earned it embarrassing their parents with their “joking among friends”.

The school is the state. Comparing it to private sector employment is apples to zebras. It is not the purview of a high school to “prepare” them for “corporate” anything.

Best case scenario: these kids will mature & regret engaging in such foolishness.

Worst case: future Deryk Schlessinger’s in the making. He seemed to think running diarrhea of the mouth& constipation of the brain about harming civilians in Afghanistan was amusing.

Most likely they’ll end up somewhere between the two extremes. It’s rather disturbing the meanness some try to pass off as “just joking” or “banter among friends.”

Not a big defender of the rights of those who aren’t adults.

Sure, they should be treated with their dignity as human beings. They have every right to have their basic needs met.

But they aren’t paying any bills. They can’t vote. They can’t serve without that diploma or G E D. They can’t sign a lease unless they get emancipated minor status. There’s a minimum age in any state to marry. There’s a minimum age to learn to drive a car.

Are any of those “fanatical authoritarianism”, too? Minors even can get an abortion in one state that comes to mind.

I’m supposed to sign off on diarrhea of the mouth that may affect another’s learning? No can do.

I really don’t give a damn about these Michigan students except to say I hope their parents take away their phones and monitor computers usage.

I’d really be embarrassed to admit someone who considered such talk “joking around with friends” had any relationship to me.

A term I used to describe our RINO Governor goes against their limits.

I’m enjoying my suspension like an adult, not whining about my free speech rights our claiming I was only joking.
