Because the Taliban knew Trump would have hammered them for seizing control of 10%, the Taliban would have waited until the US withdrawal deadline before taking even 10%. And Trump would have extracted civilians first, weaponry second and troops last. And he would have possibly blown up a few strategic assets like the US embassy. How would that have been as bad?

None of that would have happened.
The whole getting the weaponry out thing is especially silly.
Those were the weapons that were held by the Afghani forces that folded in week.

How do you know none of that would have happened?

Remembering what happened between the years 2017 and 2020.
Trump agreed with the taliban to end hostilities. That war is over bub. I know its been twenty years but time to re think the “bomb stuff” strategy.

We apparently had 60,000 American citizens left in Afghanistan as of Aug 20th.

That appears to be a tacit admission that things could have been done better under a different administration, but you refuse to openly countenance that the better path would have been taken… because… “Orange man baaad!”

Trump had conditions attached to the end of hostilities. Biden did not hold the Taliban to those conditions.

What condition wasn’t met?

It could have gone better under a different adminstration.
I am not sure how much better… but it still would have been a ■■■■ show.

You reject it? You do know I did this stuff for a living at a high level right?
The “deal” is irrelevant as I have explained a couple of times. Your cognitive dissonance is very unbecoming and not at all in keeping with your organic intellectual level.
The Taliban was to prevent AlQaida from gaining a foothold in Iraq. They began colluding with Al Qaida.
" The big picture: The Trump administration agreed to withdraw from the country by May 1, 2021, if the Taliban negotiated a peace agreement with the Afghan government and promised to prevent terrorist groups like al-Qaeda and the Islamic State from gaining a foothold."

The only story about the role of President Trump that has been told here is “he got the ball rolling” which leaves out a ton of crucial details.
The rest of your post is continually devolving into the same old same old nonsense.

Funny how the woke folks ignore the details, Paul. The liberals are a ■■■■■■■ riot… Funny riot. the gang that could not get anything right and voted a basement campaign.

DId you read the words that people were saying in that article?
Ooo Al-Qaeda again huh? Spooky.
The last 3 presidents all wiped them out year after year, remember?
Now you buy the line that we have to stay forever more because of them? Why not invade Pakistan then too?
Its the same old neocon ■■■■■■■■ that got us into this mess.
Keeping Al Qaida contained until Foreign nationals were processed and extracted, and Afghani collaborators and families were extracted, would have saved tens of thousands lives and billions of dollars of equipment before the government potentially fell.

That process got slow rolled by Stephen Miller.

Our backlog for SIV is years long and has been for years.
“Total and complete shutdown of muslims entering the country” didn’t help much. I’ll also make you a forum bet now that the next republican bugaboo will be how many actually do end up here.
The war/occupation did that. The evacuation so far has how many american casualties?
Sorry. But your press releases are not worth squat.
