There is no such thing as the “common flu.” The number of people it kills during any specific flu season varies widely. Covid too has mutated and while it may come back sometime in the future to be as virulent as it was in 2020 and 2021 it has become no more lethal than your average flu. At this time it is no more of a threat than the current strain of flu … which is “business as usual” or in other words, a nothing burger.
By the way, I am in that “most vulnerable” group age wise. If I can get Covid and barely even notice the effects, it can’t be very bad. I know you libs want to milk the Covid scare for all it’s worth, but it’s over … we ain’t scared anymore.

Good for you… millions of others were not as fortunate.
I had Covid pretty bad, way worse than any flu I’ve had. However that doesn’t mean it’s everyone’s experience.
But the aggregate macro data shows a better picture than our anecdotes, right?

Millions of other people were seriously ill before they contracted Covid.

Insurance already does that. See higher rates for smokers, overweight people, etc…
And no, I’m not going to mind my own business on this one. Because you getting sick with measles or polio can raise my rates, and that is my business.
We have a lot of employer plans where employees get a reduction in their premiums by completing certain activities such as vaccinations, wellness visits etc.
There are also a variety of individual health plans that reduce premiums for similar activities are give financial incentives.
If someone does not want to get a vaccination thats up to them but no reason why an employer cannot charge higher premiums for higher risk employees.
I’m in a union. I smoke and don’t pay a single dime more than anyone else that works at my job. I don’t care what you think about it.
I agree with you. It’s just not something I have to deal with. Everyone pays the exact same for healthcare where I work. Yeah, the young and healthy are paying more than they should, and I am paying a ton less than I should.

really?
Our insurance charges more for smokers.
And premiums go up as we age.
Not for us, or any union job I’ve ever been in. Everyone’s medical deductions are exactly the same based on their pay grade. Not their age or habits. You could be 60 and smoke, you’ll pay exactly the same as a 22 year old that doesn’t smoke. I guess they just average it all out.
It’s pretty low too. Like 100 bucks every 2 weeks.
When my wife worked at Verizon, I would cost a lot more on her plan. That’s why we switched to my plan.
I know union plans can be very different. Only dealt with a small number of union plans and they are challenging.
I’ve been in two unions my entire life. IBEW from 1987 to 1997. We paid absolutely nothing for healthcare. Just a 10 or 15 dollar deductible for visits or any procedure.
From 1997 until present we only started paying for health care in 2009. It was 25 dollars a month. Now it has gone up to 94 dollars every 2 weeks. Everyone pays the exact same amount. But it’s different with management.
Edit: We also pay 22 dollars every two weeks for prescriptions. They are all 3 dollars for generic, 10 dollars for anything not generic.

Well, that sucks. It goes against the basic principles of group plans.
Our insurance at my job you can get a discount if you prove you don’t smoke or participate in a cessation program. You also can get a discount based on your BMI. I work for a hospital.
There is so much about the way Covid numbers came down. If you had symptoms even if you weren’t positive when you died, you were counted. If you died in a motorcycle accident and you were positive, you were counted. Hospitals had financial reasons to have as many positive Covid deaths as possible. They were losing so much money from elective surgeries they were being held up with Covid money. Some were actually making money with Covid funds.

Have you ever been tested for the anti-bodies? If not, I’d wager you did and didn’t know it.

Where as this was originated by our own government and then sent to Wuhan.

No … The virus was created there. All we did was send them money and give them a wink and a nod of approval.
That’s exactly what happened, just like those of us who’ve never been vaccinated and also have no idea if we’ve ever had it or not.

The inflation caused by the borrowing made the checks worth nothing in the long run. Even worse they made everyone much poorer. That’s what modern US govt does …

It’s my understanding that this gain of function research was being done at Chapel Hill, NC under a Chinese virologist. President Obama took a stand against it’s danger @2014 and had it shipped out of the US to Wuhan. Fauci and company cut a check and got things started over there.

It was. But the work that produced Covid 19 was done in the Wuhan lab.
