More people are killed by distracted and inebriated driving every single year than all firearms murders combined. Including children. It’s not even close.

Let’s ban alcohol, vehicles, and texting if we are going to do what is necessary to save lives.

Wrong. Firearms are the leading cause of death of children. More than motor vehicle accidents, cancer, drug overdoses. More than anything. By all means, continue to believe the leading cause of death in children is no big deal. Guns are precious.

AR-15s and other light weight semi-automatic rifles like civilian Kalashnikovs aren’t assault rifles. They lack selective fire capability. So the banning of assault rifles wouldn’t ban them anyway.

You’d be banning weapons that are already very difficult to get. Stuff like actual M16s, selective fire AKs, among others.

The Texas shooter walked into a gun store the day after his birthday and bought two AR-style rifles.

Used one days later to commit this carnage.

Hmmm … He must have passed the background check.

I have no idea where they get their data but they count Switzerland as the 7th highest ranking for mass shootings. They haven’t had a mass shooting since 2001. Maybe a better link?

When you look at the rampant murder plaguing the inner cities… what are the age of the people doing the murder and being the victims of said murder?

Gangbangers mostly killing other gangbangers. The age ranges from 14 up to about 27 or 28 years old. Guys who make it that long tend to “age” out of street duty. But a signficant portion of them are under 20.

I wonder why that wasn’t brought up in the CDC report?

What laws do we change?

Doesn’t matter.

The narrative is that we have to do SOMETHING. Even if it’s not actually going to have effect. And if you don’t agree, then you are complicit in the carnage.

Is the answer we do nothing?

No. First we lock secondary entry doors to schools, and then we start teaching our kids values and responsibility like we used to. Hopefully, we can eventually unlock those doors again.

That’s the spirit. Firearms are the leading cause of death in those 1-19 but question the use of “children” or make some weird reference to gangbangers. I guess it’s not so bad if an adolescent (age 10-19) dies from a firearm. That’s the argument?

If you are the age of 1-19 in this country, you are more likely to die of a bullet than literally anything else. Unbelievable people will find a way to be OK with it.

On the bright side, nothing proves a country’s right to keep and bear arms is alive and well than when firearms are the leading cause of it’s children and adolescent deaths.

Cool- lots of cops, lots of armed folks. And yet the shooter was given tons of time to complete his mission. Not sure how one armed guard would do better unless he was lucky.

Are you forgetting that the shooter is tugging on the door handle trying in vain to open it while the armed officer draws a bead on him?
